I put this up in the beta druid forums:
http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=9879938340&sid=2000There's a lot of changing going on through the thread, so read to the end at least - lots of numbers had to be worked out.
Anyways, the basic gist of it is that we should remove feral attack power completely, and have a talent (suggested: replacement for feral faerie fire, make FFF baseline) which gives us a bonus to attack power while in forms based on our weapon DPS.
Past that, the ability to dual wield fist weapons and wield polearms was suggested, to give us additional weaponry options for feral. Few other classes use polearms and fist weapons - and they have fairly good stats (not to mention appearances) for feral druids. I've always found it a bit odd that we cant dw fist weapons anyways...
Anyways, the formula comes down to something along these lines by the end:
2handed weapons:
(Weapon DPS * 14) = AP bonus
Example:
level 80 blue pvp polearm: 169 DPS. (169 * 14) = 2366 feral attack power
Dual wielding:
((Mainhand DPS * 0.65) * 14) + ((Offhand DPS * 0.65) * 14) = AP bonus
Example:
level 80 blue pvp fist weapons: 130 DPS.
((130 * 0.65) * 14) + (*130 * 0.65) * 14) = 2366 feral attack power
They come out equivalent, so stats on the weapon would matter more than if you choose to dw or use a 2hander. Because our feral forms have their own 'weapon', we arent actually dual wielding but only gaining the stats from two weapons - so we dont have the hit penalty and damage penalty in forms.
