It isn't. As a threat stat, hit is dwarfed by spell damage and inferior to expertise for tankadins. The only situation where significant amounts of hit is really ideal is on those fights where you need to taunt a boss onto you - such an the bear boss in ZA. Don't pass on a piece just because it has hit, but there's usually little reason to seek it out.
3/3 Precision will handle most of your hit needs.
Spell hit... no. Just no.
I've always wondering what would happen if my taunt was resisted during that fight.
Just to clarify, hit should, on the most part, disregard as a important stat?
NalorakkIn phase one (troll) of that fight, you receive a debuff that increases the amount of damage you take from physical dots.
In phase two (bear) physical dots are applied. Combined with the regular damage he does, this isn't survivable by any tank. Thus why you swap him back and forth between two using taunts.
And yes, in most circumstances, hit can be ignored. Nice to have, but hardly essential.
