Recently I've had a problem with questhelper freezing the game. It appears that there is something wrong with macs and questhelper since there is a post on curse about it. Basically I need a substitute that is easy to use that will help me quest.

I'd suggest either Carbonite which has a lot of quest information along with google style maps as well as some useful pvp addons, or Light Headed with Tom Tom, which puts wowhead comments right next to your quest log then makes all coordinates clickable which puts an arrow HUD on screen along with map markers leading to the destination.
Questhelper imo has far too many issues to be useful, and Carbonite has too many features (which I suppose could be edited out) though still has its uses. Light Headed and Tom Tom is my favorite.
Also with Tom Tom you can send map markers to your party or guild (if they have the addon) to make giving directions or group questing easy.

If you're looking for something that's a tad bit more... step by step then I'd also suggest getting TourGuide in addition to Lightheaded and TomTom.
TourGuide is essentially a paper step-by-step leveling guide, but in-game. It has some small faults, such as a few misaligned coordinates and missing 'accept quest' markers, but on the whole it's a very solid leveling addon. It's also fairly easy to customize, so if you have a bit of time you can easily fix the few faults the add-on has.
