Sorry, I don't really know. But I'd probably trust Bliz on this one, I've heard people say good things about account retrieval and de-hacking.

For the specific "low down" contact Blizzard directly ... if you can get through.
Otherwise my guess (and it's only a guess) is that the same hack that was used on your account is still active on your machine. IOW they "the hackers" are still able to acquire your password and change it on the Blizzard website thereby making your account unaccessible.
Note, this is what the Blizzard Authenticator is designed to prevent.
Something similar happened to our former GM. It took Blizz over three weeks to get most of his gear recovered. They did not restore all his gold however.
I do hope you get your stuff back.

Why do hackers suck so much?
Best wishes, man. Hope it works out.

Recently I had my account hacked, my items deleted. I spoke to a GM and they said they would 'escalate' me to an expert in item retrieval. I went offline, due to them saying it would be OK to, I try to log back in, and it says my account info doesn't work. Is this because they are fixing my characters, so they temporarily changed the info?
Give it another half hour, then if you STILL can't log back in, try giving a call over to your corresponding number (Depending on where you live)
For assistance please call: 1 (800) 592 5499
Users located in Australia should use 1-800-041-378 if they cannot get through with the number above.
Users located in Singapore should use 800-2549927 if they cannot get through with the number above.
Latin American and International callers without access to our 800 numbers may use: (949) 955-0283
Remember (Or at least try!) to use the phone number that you put in when you initially signed up for World of Warcraft.
