I think the new
Hammer of Righteous
pretty much answers the questions whether tankadins will be using the old +spellpower weapons, or the warrior-like ones. Since our abilities are affected by AP at least as much, and usually more, as SP, then we'll start relying on physical DPS weapons for high threat.
Shield of Righteous
, our other big threat builder does damage based on BV (STR-based, STR=AP), and all the damage is automatically converted in Holy.
No more SP for us...

mate - HoR is holy damage, so spell damage effect it, and your BV, well, 20 STR = 1 BV, so, 40 STR would be...2 BV or 4.8 damage on SoR(reasonable amount of str for a DPS/threat weapon)
so far, I still believe that packing another 300 spell damage will be better, considering our cons', holy shield, AS, RF and basicly every other threat generation ability is spell damage based, or am I missing something?

Maintankadin has a nice thread about which weapons are best for TPS.

There's a spreadsheet you can view on the google spreadsheets, they've been adding current and future weapons to it so you can see where they stand. It was current with the 8926 build, and barring any huge mechanic changes with the patch today should still be fairly accurate.

Looks like spell damage weapons are still on top for TPS, but regular DPS weapons are filling in gaps here and there.

Isn't that basically the same conclusion as what I calculated a couple months back?

The conspiracies theories are correct!
Blademeld is a spy for Blizzard!
Or maybe he's just of a like mindset... the first one would be more fun, though...

I think that spell power weapons not so much will be needed anymore considering this
Talent
I can easily see droping all spell power and going for straight stam and str. I can see over 3k stam easily in Wrath meaning that you get 900 spell damage and I still don't think we will need spell damage as much as we need it in bc. so 900 spell power should be enough even if its just 2500 stam thats 750 spell damage.

I guess the reason why a caster weapon still is better for threat is because almost all of the itemization points is used on spellpower, which most abilities still scale with (although most not as much as AP), where a tanking weapon, most of the itemization points is used on increasing the weapons dps which only benefits white damage and HoR.
Couldn't have said it better.
