Brewfest 2008
runs from
September 20
-
October 4
and the main festival camps are located near Orgrimmar and Ironforge. Brewfest has undergone a few changes since last year's festival.
Table of Contents
Mounts
Spoils
Quests
Coren Direbrew
Achievements
Brewfest Mounts?
You can still get Brewfest mounts, but not in the same way as before. Last year you had to collect tickets (now
tokens
) and purchase a hand stamp that allowed you to purchase the
Brewfest Ram
and
Swift Brewfest Ram
mounts from
Driz Tumblequick
(Horde) or
Pol Amberstill
(Alliance). In 2008, however, the hand stamp has been
removed
and the NPCs
will not sell mounts
unless you were 'attuned' last year. Instead, the
Swift Brewfest Ram
can drop from
Coren Direbrew
in
Blackrock Depths
, and a new mount has been added - the
Great Brewfest Kodo
! These mounts have a random chance to drop from this new event boss and can be used by both Alliance and Horde. It appears that the non-epic ram,
Brewfest Ram
, will not be available to players who did not purchase the stamp last year. Note that if you did purchase the hand stamp last year, you can still purchase the non epic / epic riding rams from him for 10g and 100g, respectively.
Brewfest Spoils!
Quests completed during Brewfest will award
Brewfest Prize Tokens
which can be redeemed for items by speaking to either
Blix Fixwidget
(Horde) or
Belbi Quikswitch
(Alliance). Here is a full list of the items they have for sale:
Blue Brewfest Hat
- 50 Tokens
Green Brewfest Hat
- 50 Tokens
Brown Brewfest Hat
- 50 Tokens
Purple Brewfest Hat
- 50 Tokens

/
Fresh Goblin Brewfest Hops
- 5 Tokens
Fresh Brewfest Hops
- 2 Tokens
Preserved Brewfest Hops
- 20 Tokens
Brewfest Pony Keg
- 100 Tokens
The Brewfest gear is perfect for dressing up the occasion and prancing about looking pretty fancy. The
Wolpertinger's Tankard
summons an um.. "adorable" non-combat pet that can only be seen by party/raid members or incredibly drunk individuals. The "Brew of the Month" Club Membership (
Alliance
/
Horde
) starts a quest that is completed in your respective faction's major city and enrolls your character in the Brew of the Month Club where you will receive a new brew in the mail every month, delicious drinks with quite interesting side-effects! The
Eyesight Enhancing Goggles
, when equipped, will change everyone you see into a female orc (Horde) or male gnome (Alliance) - dead sexy, right? The
Fresh Brewfest Hops
are temporary items that will expire and change your mount into either a Brewfest Kodo (Horde) or Brewfest Ram (Alliance), the
Fresh Dwarven Brewfest Hops
(available to Horde) will change your mount into a Brewfest Ram and the
Fresh Goblin Brewfest Hops
(available to Alliance) will change your mount into a Brewfest Kodo. Finally, the
Brewfest Pony Keg
places a keg on the ground that anyone can use to retrieve a
Brewfest Brew
.
In addition the Brewfest items for sale by the token vendors, there are also a variety of food/drink sellers found in the camps, selling wine, cheese, sausage, bread and (of course) booze to the festival patrons.
Players level 60+ will be interested in the new event boss
Coren Direbrew
's loot, which can be found in
this post
, including epic quality trinkets and epic riding mounts!

Brewfest Quests!
Welcome to Brewfest!
Available from
Tapper Swindlekeg
(Horde) or
Ipfelkofer Ironkeg
(Alliance), which will award a single brew.
Chug and Chuck!
(
Alliance version
)
- Awards 10
Brewfest Prize Tokens
Start & End:
Bizzle Quicklift
(Horde) or
Boxey Boltspinner
(Alliance)
This quest is ridiculously easy; simply accept the quest, loot a
Complimentary Brewfest Sampler
from the nearby tables, target
S.T.O.U.T.
and use the brew. Do this five times, then turn around and accept your tokens.
Now This is Ram Racing Almost!
(
Alliance version
)
- Does not award tokens, but
unlocks the other ram riding dailies
.
Start & End:
Ram Master Ray
(Horde) or
Neill Ramstein
(Alliance)
This quest is intended to introduce players to the fine art of ram riding. Upon accepting this quest,
Ram Master Ray
(Horde) or
Neill Ramstein
(Alliance) will mount you upon one of his fine riding rams and give you the
Ram Racing Reins
, which you must use to control the speed of your ram. You have to maintain certain speeds for 8 seconds each, which is indicated not only by the movement speed of your ram but by colored buff icons on your player. Be careful not to travel too fast, or your ram will get fatigued and slow down severely! You can lower (or completely reset) your ram's fatigue counter by stopping at barrels of apples which can be found on the ram riding paths.
Say, There Wouldn't Happen to be a Souvenir This Year, Would There?
(
Alliance version
)
Start:
Driz Tumblequick
(Horde) or
Pol Amberstill
(Alliance)
End:
Blix Fixwidget
(Horde) or
Belbi Quikswitch
(Alliance)
This quest will open up after completing
Now This is Ram Racing Almost!
. You will be given a
Brewfest Stein Voucher
that you must turn in at
Blix Fixwidget
(Horde) or
Belbi Quikswitch
(Alliance) to redeem your 2008 Brewfest souvenir, the
Blue Brewfest Stein
.
There and Back Again
(
Alliance version
)
- Awards 10
Brewfest Prize Tokens
Start & End:
Ram Master Ray
(Horde) or
Neill Ramstein
(Alliance)
This quest is a little challenging, you are once again granted a temporary ram mount that lasts 4 minutes and you must use the
Ram Racing Reins
and your new-found skill of ram riding to receive and deliver kegs of brew between the goblins. You must travel down the path, minding your speed and fatigue, and you will be thrown a
Portable Brewfest Keg
by either
Bok Dropcertain
(Horde) or
Flynn Firebrew
(Alliance). Simply return the keg to the questgiver three times to successfully complete the quest. I highly recommend moving as quickly as possible and stopping momentarily at every barrel of apples to insure you do not reach 100 fatigue. After completing this quest, the questgiver will allow you to help him out one more time per day.
Every 18 Hours:
'Do you still need some help moving kegs from the crash site... ?'
- Awards 2
Brewfest Prize Tokens
per turn-in
Start & End:
Ram Master Ray
(Horde) or
Neill Ramstein
(Alliance)
This isn't exactly a quest, per se, but is a very good option for accumulating more
Brewfest Prize Tokens
. This "quest" is available after successfully completing
There and Back Again
. Simply speak to the NPC again and offer to help him out again. The questgiver will give you another ram with which you must retrieve and return more kegs, awarding 2
Brewfest Prize Tokens
per loop. You can do this as many times as possible until your ram mount expires (4 minutes). You can only offer to help him once every 18 hours, and only after completing the daily.
Daily Quest:
Bark for ________!
- Awards 15
Brewfest Prize Tokens
Start & End:
Cort Gorestein
/
Ja'ron
(Horde) or
Daran Thunderbrew
/
Becan Barleybrew
(Alliance)
This quest can be started at either of the rivaling breweries, and may only be completed for one brewery per day. Horde players can choose to either
Bark for Drohn's Distillery!
or
Bark for T'chali's Voodoo Brewery!
and Alliance choose between
Bark for the Barleybrews!
or
Bark for the Thunderbrews!
. It does not matter which brewery you choose to bark for, and you can even choose a different one each day (though don't tell the other guys)! For this quest you are yet again given the ram and
Ram Racing Reins
and this time must run throughout your capital city, visiting different designated checkpoints to preach the great word of brew within a 4 minute time limit. This quest can be rather challenging, as there are no apple barrels to renew your ram's fatigue so it's best to keep a steady (albeit annoyingly slow) pace as you travel throughout your city. Once you reach the fourth location, provided your time, many players opt to cancel the ram buff and simply mount on a regular epic mount to go return the quest.
Daily Quest:
This One Time, When I Was Drunk
(
Alliance version
)
- Awards 10
Brewfest Prize Tokens
Start:
Dark Iron Mole Machine Wreckage
End:
Bizzle Quicklift
(Horde) or
Boxey Boltspinner
(Alliance)
This quest can only be picked up after a Dark Iron invasion on the Brewfest camp (every 30 minutes). The invasions do not work as they did last year, though you can still pick up Beer and attempt to hit the invading Dark Iron Dwarves, no longer will you receive any sort of special credit or
Brewfest Prize Tokens
for actually hitting any number of them. Once the dwarves have been defeated and retreat, a piece of
Dark Iron Mole Machine Wreckage
will remain on the ground that anyone can loot to obtain this quest. You can then turn the quest in nearby and receive your tokens.

Coren Direbrew, The Grim Guzzler and the Dark Iron Dwarves!
New to this year's Brewfest is the addition of
Coren Direbrew
as a level 73 elite in
Blackrock Depths
' Grim Guzzler bar. Players might remember that last year there was a quest to find him as a result of battle plans discovered after Dark Iron invasions at the Brewfest camps. This year, there is a daily quest that can be obtained to kill him once per person, per day (similar to the Headless Horseman and Ahune seasonal daily quests). It's worth mentioning that if you wipe to the boss, the player who summoned will fail the quest and not be able to take it again until dailies reset.
Players can start the quest line with
Save Brewfest!
, available from
Slurpo Fizzykeg
(Horde) or
Darna Honeybock
(Alliance), who is located near the NPC which you retrieve kegs from for There and Back Again. This quest does not have to be completed in order to pick up the BRD daily quest, and serves simply as a breadcrumb quest to notify you that something is up in
Blackrock Depths
!
Upon arriving at
Blackrock Depths
, players will notice something new located directly to the right inside of the instance - three
Dark Iron Antagonists
surrounding a pile of rubble. Once these three dwarves have been defeated, party members can use the Mole Machine Console ("pull the console's levers") to climb inside the mole machine and travel underground into the Grim Guzzler Bar. Once you're out, you'll notice the
Brewfest Spy
standing just to the left of
Ribbly Screwspigot
and his cronies. In addition to completing the
Save Brewfest!
quest, he gives the daily quest
Insult Coren Direbrew
which is what allows players to fight and defeat Coren for his arsenal of phat lewt.
Gimme the loot!
In addition to dropping both the
Great Brewfest Kodo
and
Swift Brewfest Ram
, Coren Direbrew drops epic quality trinkets which are the equivalent of the first tier Badge of Justice trinkets. These trinkets are unique from the Badge trinkets and can be used one after another after a normal trinket Use delay of 20 seconds.
Dark Iron Smoking Pipe
(
Icon of the Silver Crescent
)
Empty Mug of Direbrew
(
Bloodlust Brooch
)
Coren's Lucky Coin
(
Gnomeregan Auto-Blocker 600
)
Direbrew Hops
(
Essence of the Martyr
)
Coren also has a chance to drop +45 stamina trinkets that summon the
Brewmaiden
who will heal your party for 71 health every 2 seconds (
Brewmaiden's Blessing
) or the
Black Brewmaiden
who will chuck beer at your enemies! In addition, both maidens can be /wave'd at to receive free brew!
Brightbrew Charm
Balebrew Charm
In addition the trinkets and mounts, Coren also drops the successor to the beloved
Barman Shanker
...
Direbrew Shanker
Best of all (in my opinion), Coren Direbrew has a chance to drop a blue quality item that will teleport your entire party to the Grim Guzzler, from anywhere! It seems as though we always end up back in BRD for some reason, so now you'll have this handy teleporter in case you want to buy
arena gear
,
Dark Iron Ale
or watch L80ETC play!
Direbrew's Remote
The fight is a little challenging but it is a ton of fun and a great opportunity to pick up some new trinkets and the only chance you'll have until next year to get the awesome Brewfest mounts!

Brewfest Achievements
If you're like me and many others, and thinking ahead to
Wrath of the Lich King
, you may have noticed that there is an entire category of Brewfest-related achievements. Most important of all of these is the achievement
Brewmaster
, which upon completing the achievements specified in the criteria will award the player title 'Brewmaster'! Sadly, it will not be possible to earn this title until next year's Brewfest.
Some of these achievements will not be available until next year's Brewfest, but there are a number of them that should be able to be completed retroactively by purchasing certain items now and saving them until WoTLK hits. Here is a full list of Brewfest-related achievements:
Brew of the Year
- Sample 12 beers featured in the Brew of the Month club.
Direbrewfest
- Kill Coren Direbrew.
Disturbing the Peace
- While wearing 3 pieces of Brewfest clothing, get completely smashed and dance in Dalaran.
Does Your Wolpertinger Linger?
- Obtain a Wolpertinger pet.
Down With The Dark Iron
- Defend the Brewfest camp from the Dark Iron attack and complete the quest, "This One Time, When I Was Drunk..."
Drunken Stupor
- Fall 65 yards without dying while completely smashed during the Brewfest Holiday.
Have Keg, Will Travel
- Obtain a brewfest mount.
Strange Brew
(Alliance) - Drink the Brewfest beers listed below.
Strange Brew
(Horde) - Drink the Brewfest beers listed below.
The Brewfest Diet
- Eat 8 of the Brewfest foods listed below.
Blue Brewfest Stein (2008)
- Proud owner of the 2008 Vintage Blue Brewfest Stein. (Feat of Strength)
Yellow Brewfest Stein (2007)
- Proud owner of the 2007 Vintage Yellow Brewfest Stein. (Feat of Strength)
Obviously, any achievements that state objectives that must be completed
during
Brewfest will probably have to be completed next Brewfest. I'm doubting that it will retroactively reward you for having killed Coren Direbrew if you have any loot from him. Also, you will not be able to obtain any of the food/drink related achievements as all of the Brewfest food and drink have 2 day durations. I'm not sure whether or not you can try to bypass the durations by leaving them in mailboxes and sending them between players. Also, the Brew of the Month brew does not have a duration so you can save those to drink after WotLK hits.
However, you will be able to receive the achievement for owning a Brewfest mount, for owning the Blue Brewfest Stein, dancing in Dalaran in the Brewfest garb, and owning a
Wolpertinger
. You also might be able to acquire the Brew of the Month achievement provided the brews that are mailed to you as a club member do not have a duration. Just something to think about! :)

You'll see Pink Elekks while drunk in Allerian Stronghold or Stonebreaker Hold.
Nice guide. =)
I'm a bit annoyed over not getting the Ram stamp last year, and keeping the Brewfest stein. I avoided them both deliberately so I could save my precious bagspace...

Sorry for doublke posting, but:
Daily Quest:
Chug and Chuck!
(
Alliance version
)
- Awards 10
Brewfest Prize Tokens
...
Daily Quest:
There and Back Again
(
Alliance version
)
- Awards 10
Brewfest Prize Tokens
are not daily quests. At least, I couldn't get them today. The others are right on, though.
Also, it's possible for alliance to deliver about 12 (±1) kegs in 4 minutes, so the quest for 3 kegs isn't so tricky. Just stop by both apple bushels between the pickup and the delivering points while galloping constantly.

Yeah, I fixed this. I wasn't sure until they reset and turns out they aren't, which is kinda dumb.. not really enough daily quests this year, then again not nearly as much grinding, either. I farmed to 600 tickets on three characters last year to get them rams, not to mention powerleveling a character from 30-40 to be able to actually use it on her. I'm a little glad I don't have to do that again, but I also hate random chance. Second night of doing Coren, still no kodo. ._.

It's only tricky if you're not used to the mechanics and/or not paying attention to what you're doing.

Aww... *pat*
Random chance is annoying, yeah. I hope I'll get both the Kodo and the Ram during this Brewfest though. A character on my server had everything except the Brightbrew Charm today (after the second day). I'm guessing (s)he was a healer, because they are experts at leeching others' daily insult. >,>

Coren is level 73 not 70 :)
Hehe, looks like Sko changed it before I woke up. I was being less literal as in 'intended for level 70s' not actually 'level 70'. *hides*

Alliance cannot buy a Brewfest ram, only hops to temporarily morph a current mount into ram or kodo. So we both got pooped on. ;P
Post by
Smaragd
Those who got the stamp last year can buy the rams. Noone else can, and the quest for that is gone. I thought that was pretty clear...

I'm kinda bummed about it. Since I'm only a level 36, and have absolutely zero chance against Dire. Oh well. Maybe next year. I'm more excited for Hallows End and it's loot anyway. :)
