I think overall we've Holy Paladins have gotten strong buffs. We're already argueably the most mana-efficient healing class, with excellent single-target heals, and so far all I've read has been buffs (from minor to moderate) with very few nerfs.
With the spellpower changes we are now going to be able to do better DPS, which will help soloing.
Beacon of Light just got a buff up to 1 minute according to MMO Champion (as I've stated elsewhere, if synergies work the way I hope they will I think a well-geared Holy Paladin with Beacon and the right glyphs could single-handedly keep up a main tank, an off tank, and several DPS in an emergency).
We've gotten a couple of Talents that will let us have an emergency "instant" Holy Light (Divine Favor + Holy Shock + Infusion of Light ); your Holy Shock will hit the tank for ~3750 crit plus heal coefficient, then 1.5 seconds for GCD and you pop him with an instant Holy Light.
I'm not sure where you got the title (or idea) that Healadins were going to be useless in WotLK. Unless the things I've read are completely inaccurate, it's quite the opposite.

Behind every chain-pulling tank is a healer who's rolling their eyes.
I just have to giggle at your sig. My husband is a chain-pulling pally and I love it. I came to kill {well, ok, heal while other people kill}, not have a tea party. ;)
But, on topic...from running around on PTR with the current changes, I am rather displeased. HS changes are great, it's about time for that, but everything else is really, really lackluster. The removal of downranking *sucks* being that I am crit-built. And with even more crit talents spewing out all over the holy and ret trees it seems that yeah, crit is the way to go. Great, love that...
But what am I supposed to do with an 8k HL crit that comes off a 4k HS crit? Watch my overheal go through the roof and my mana pool go through the floor? Or sit on my thumbs and go in for some uber DPS with my 48DPS healer weapon while I regen and wait for someone to NEED these absurdly large and costly heals? Spam FoL and wonder why the heck I spent all those talent points in holy that I'm not using just so I can have BoL? Weigh the pros and cons of speccing ret in holy gear?
I really, really hope the pass on holy comes soon and does some massive overhauling. I'm a full-blown healer at heart. I've played a resto druid and shaman extensively and I knew going in to the paladin that I would never be as strong at keeping a group alive as those classes were. But paladin is by far the least impressive of all my healers, even though I've put far more work into her than I did for either of my other healers. And what I'm seeing on PTR and in the Beta notes is making that gap worse.

Well, some of the changes are meant to do exactly that. Not directly to the Holy tree, but with available glyphs from Inscription... Flash of Light plus Glyph of FoL equals a heal over time; Holy Light plus Glyph of HL equals an (albeit weak) AoE heal for up to 5 people.
While I know it would make it waaaay too powerful, and pretty much "required" for Holy Light, I wish they had made Glyph of HL change the spell so it was reactive; you cast it on a target, and the next time they take more than Xk damage, it triggers and heals them.

Holy is still in the "to do" list.
Hope they get around to it soon

Infusion of Light has a 15 second limit.
Just throwing that in there...
