I think it'll be easier once i hit 30 and get siphon life.
Sorry I came to your problem so late. Yes, you should be doing fantastic by now, but I would drop your waist for something with spell power or spirit, as I'm sure you've noticed the MP5 is unescisary.
No apologies necessary, real life happens, so it's all good. :D
i actually just picked that belt up tonight in a runthrough of gnomeregan, and it was a crazy upgrade over what I had already, so I went with it..
either way it goes, my initial guess was right.. since getting the siphon life talent, i've noticed a huge difference in my survivability.. my mana doesn't have QUITE the longevity i'd like, but i figure that'll come with a few more upgrades.
anyway.. thanks for a completely AMAZING guide. i've got this bookmarked on my home PC and my laptop. :D

Levels 60+
God of Death Mode
Many warlocks are already doing GoDM without realizing they are, but for that crowd out there who doesn't recognize it, I'll explain. GoDM is an insane occurance that only happens to Warlocks, the ability to kill a field of monsters in less than two minutes and still come out with 80%+ health and mana, but the only requirement is TONS OF SHADOW POWER. If you do not have enough Shadow Power, be expected to be executed in only a matter of moments when attempting this, so I recommend reading the rest of the section and follow those guidelines. The only way I could suggest training for this would be to find one mob your level, and seeing if it dies in moments when you do this. The Imp is the best demon for this, and there are two paths to choose from.
I remember doing something similar back in BC (when I kept getting funny looks for staying affliction over shadow cannon). always running through the island north of silvermoon doing the dailies, with just corruption, curse of agony, and siphon life ( back when it was a separate spell). good times.
edit: for clarity, just sayin' that yes it works, and glad that someone else out there liked it enough to recommend it.

i don't want to start a whole new thread over this, but is dark pact supposed to put you into combat when you use it, or is that a glitch? (a la, DK's "Raise dead" used to put you in combat, but was fixed a while back)
edit: now that i watch closely, it only does so about 1/2 the time... but still.

hey i dont no too tek webons from thess site hu kand help mylolwut?
<Awsome guide>
Kappa, I'm a fresh warlock, never tried it, and your Triforce pulled me into rolling one. No, not really, but you took a great deal of the cofusion out of the starting process.
However, may I make two suggestions?
1) I generally don't start with Immolate, and in fact, at level 17, I've almost entirely removed it from my rotation. It's really spendy mana-wise, and I feel as though I'm killing more efficiently with a few Shadow Bolts instead. Additionally, I found myself yanking mobs off with an Immolate->Curse of Agony->Corruption rotation. Putting Immolate at the end of the rotation is a waste of mana (it seems) because it only ticks once or twice before the mob is dead.
2) If I could request some sort of translation index for the short-forms people use, that'd be great.
Examples: SiLi/FG (Okay, I can figure Felguard, but wtf is SiLi?)
I'm fairly adept at figuring most of these out via context, but a brief abbreviation list would be most welcome.
Thanks for the hard work, Kappa. My silly little mage hasn't gotten any play since I started dotting stuff with evil glee. :)
Edited numerous times for phrasing/clarification.

There are a lot of abbreviations that we use, some of the common ones are immo = immolate,
sili= siphon life,
corr= corruption,
coa/cod/coe/cowhatever = course of agony/curse of doom/ curse of elements/curse of whatever,
vw = voidwalker, felpup/feldog= felhound.
those are the only ones that we use on the lock forums that i can think of off the top of my head, if you see any others that you're not sure of someone on here can usually tell you

That's what I'm talkin' about.
Thanks asakawa.
My point was simply that in most of the guide-type posts I'm used to seeing, the author will do a brief glossary similar to that for any abbreviations that might be used in said guide. No biggie, just a thought.

you're not wrong and, in fact, the glossary in my thread is tucked away at the end where, i'm sure, nobody ever finds it... not sure much can be done though. most of those abbreviations are kind of ubiquitous now. i understand that it can be a little intimidating for newcomers but it very quickly becomes common parlance and glossaries are just sections to scroll past.

DID YOU SAY THERE WAS SOMETHING WRONG WITH MY GUIDE?
/cast Hellfire
Battle Log
________
Kappajoe took 870 Fire damage.
Kappajoe died (234 excess damage).
Chat Log
________
Kappajoe says: WTF H4XX0R!
Kappajoe's Conscience whispers: Cool down, Kappajoe!
Kappajoe covers himself in water!
Kappajoe is melting!
... That was fun.
I don't want to steal the man's guide... And I guess we have different playstyles, but my philosophy is, is that unless there's a clamor of me being wrong, I decide that it just comes down to preference. If more people start suggesting that I change the rotation, I will. Is that okay?
I should've worded that as a suggestion rather than an order, my apologies. It could be the heirloom gear I'm wearing or some other factor; I've just noticed that if I cast Immolate first in rotation, it's very easy for me to pull aggro from voidy. If I cast it third in rotation, I've wasted mana because it only ticks once, perhaps twice before the mob is dead.
That's all I'm saying. :)
