Portsmouth is famous for being the home of the Portsmouth Spartans, a professional American football team that moved to Detroit and was renamed the Lions. It's the birthplace of Roy Rogers. Also, it's famous for having at one time been the world's capital for illegal Oxycontin trafficking... Oh, how far we've come!

Auckland:
Famous for:
10th most livable city in the world
50+ dormant volcanoes in a 2000 mile radius (last one asploded 700 years ago).
Everyone outside of Auckland hates Auckland
750,000 Aucklanders profess Christianity, but less than 10% of them go to church.

Orem, Utah is famous for being the startup location of Novell and WordPerfect.
It's also the hometown of Brandon Sanderson.

My hometown is the setting for a book named into the wild. No, not the one about the dogs.
This is the one I'm talking about.

That's were the band The Used is from I believe.

Vancouver, WA (where I was born) is famous for being confused with other locations.
"Where are you from?"
"Vancouver."
"Oh, cool! Canada seems awesome!"
"... No, it's Washington."
"Washington DC?"
">.<"
Same thing happens when you start with Washington.
Can't ever catch a break.

Can't ever catch a break.I know, right?
"Yeah, I moved here from Washington."
"Washington DC?"
"No, the state."
"Oh."
Seriously, there are 6,064,538 more people living in Washington State than Washington DC. Statistically, if someone says they used to live in Washington, chances are they're talking about the state.

Small town in Sweden, kind of famous for weapons/explosives industry and the fact that Alfred Nobel used to live here.

World's largest skating rink, I guess.
