Remember back to a time, if you can, when all classes had their place. No one dared to deviate from their class "job" to try something new, for fear of oppression from guildmates and leadership alike. All paladins cleansebotted. All warriors tanked. And all druids healed.I started my druid off feral for leveling, and between levels 1-60, it was fantastic. Every challenge I faced, I could defeat, and nothing stood between me and victory in battle. And then I hit 60.Life changed. I joined a guild that was starting Molten Core progression, and was told within a week of me joining and all but ignoring veiled hints and suggestions that I respec resto that it was not, in fact a suggestion.Being told, "conform or gtfo" was a big, BIG slap in the face, especially since I'd gone to druid because I WAS a pally before this, and found 5-minute buffs and the regular screams of allies demanding different buffs and that I cleanse faster and harder was unbearable. So, wanting to experience the content and not be left in the dust...I had no choice but to conform, until Blizzard made the beautiful, beautiful patch that made Innervate a learned spell. That's when I was able to break the shackles, and go Balance. I was still able to heal, and had a mana pool large enough to support it, while being able to do what I loved--DPS.I was still met with resistance at every turn, as I was regularly told "Mage priority" on cloth items I wanted and in every other way slapped down, both by having to pay more DKP for items and for having to pass to people with negative DKP. But my dream was realized, and I finally felt I could win the day I got http://www.wowhead.com/?item=19370. I still have it banked, and it is truly my most epic possession....okay, that and my http://www.wowhead.com/?item=14617. That shirt is just hawt.
This happened Sunday. My ISP is failing badly, packet loss on the downstream so badly it isn't funny. I am a protection warrior, and I have been running Heroic Utgarde Pinnacle every day for the better part of 3 weeks trying for the Red Sword of Courage. I see so many people getting it that have quite worse gear than myself, new players that are protection spec for the first time in the guild getting it their first run. It was getting aggravating. But even through the 1500+ ping and game hang up every 6 or so seconds due to the packet loss. I decided to continue on with the daily tradition of Heroic UP. Well, lagging my way through the instance, falling through the mapping a couple of times, and DCing all over the place, I somehow miraculously managed to hold threat and not wipe on a single boss or trash pull. We get to King Ymiron, lagging more than the entire instance until then. The game hangs, the boss at 10%. next time my packets start flowing the boss is dead.... sparkling in front of me. I eagerly right click to loot... MAH SWORD! I get it, my game disconnects again, I just leave it DCed and revel in weeks worth of epic mail belt drops (with no mail wearer present) finally paying off. Better yet, an hour later the internet stops failing, it seems I had to prove myself as a tank even in the most horrid conditions to be rewarded with such a secksy item :D
My most epic drop had to be the Retribution pants from Ouro in AQ 40. They were the only set of Retribution pants pre-BC and one of two sets of pant tokens on the entire server!
My first purple, which was the Nemesis Skullcap off Onyxia. Sweet!
The day I won my Tsunami Talisman. First one in the guild.
Just to take this "Epic" moment literally. I have seen exactly one world drop epic armor/weapon in all my time of playing. I was in Tanaris for god knows why, and I had randomly grouped with some lowbie, again I forget why, probably to help him kill mobs for a quest or something. I'm too nice sometimes. Anyways, you can see where this is going---loot is on FFA since I don't wanna have to loot crap and this is before the days of "pass on loot", so he grabs it before I even know it's there. Given that it was Lei of Lilies it's not exactly what I'd call a big deal... still annoying to see my "only epic evar" go to a nub.
Last time I talked about my Baron Rivendare Mount, and as I'm a mountman I will share another mount story as of today. This epic loot fits very well together with the reward from winning, because it is a lootcard mount. And ofcourse the mount talked about is: Swift Spectral Tiger. Talk about luck when opening a booster pack ;)EPIC!
