I didn't encounter this ninja personally, but a friend of mine ran with a guy who rolled Need on a lockbox.

If you are raid leader and lets say you clear OS or something. If you take anything for yourself, the bag of spoils or your token, without rolling or anything. Is it reportable to Blizzard? Or do you just face the world knowing what you did and getting mad grief?
Only if you say to the group ahead of time your intentions. Otherwise yes, it is considered ninjaing.
Was doing TK 3 weeks before WotLK, Ashes of A'lar drop, raid leader ninjas them, he recently transferred off the server cause no one raids with him.

On my old server(Magtheridon) there was this person(forgot the name) that made a PUG Gruul's and Ninja'ed
everything
that Grull droped. Luckly everyone on the raid went to the trade chat to QQ. By the next day the ninja was out of a guild and arena teams. Looking for another on the trade chat everyone started saying he was a ninja. It got out of scale and he said on a fryday night in trade chat: Shut up you f***ing n*****s, I'm not gonna ninja your arena points!
Long story short: a week later his name couldn't be found on any server.

I must be one lucky bastard not to have a ninja story :).
But unfortunately (for my friend) he was doing sunwell and on first Brutallis reign of misery drops. Friend being the healer priest asked if it was alright to roll need on it. RL accepted and a paladin tank needed it and won. Paladin got away with it but friend was $%^&ed so on Felmyst he just sat there and let MT die, resulting in wipe and RL being annoyed asked WTF you did that for and friend replies "I dont heal ninja's". Raid disbanded after that :)

Running razorfen downs on my shadowpriest with imp spirit tap for improved mana regen for levelling.

drops
A rogue needs on it because it has spirit and helps his health regeneration >.<. Since my main is rogue I know that it will benefit a priest a lot more than it would benefit a rogue. But try explaining that too somebody.

Here's on for you: ME.
Last night, I assemble a quick PUG Archavaron 10-man raid, me as the master looter. We're two rogues in the raid, so I check the other one's stats on the armory:
Here's in semi pvp-crafted gear, with a few quest blues that are anything but PVE blues (some that give strenght, some defense rating...). So I /w him, asking him to put on his PVE armor, I get replied back:
"I don't have one, I'm a PVP only rogue"
"Ok, so go to stormwind, change your talents to PVE mutilate, and we'll summon you back"
"I don't want to change my talents just for a raid"
Ok whatever, on the trash mobs we do a fair amount of DPS, he's last but it doesn't matter since we could have done without him, and since I have no interest in PVP gear I was going to let him have it if any dropped.
We get to archavaron, kill him, turns out my "buddy" didn't really know the fight and died. Guess what drops. Tier 7 gloves. For Rogues.
So he starts "NEED" and casts a roll, and then starts "Ralin come on I really need it"
Don't remember how much he rolled but I just gave myself the item.
He's not going to make an effort for a raid PVE I don't see why I should.

Best I have isn't about rolling for loot but is about rolling for shards and the crystal afterwards.
I healed H VH just yesterday. The look is on group loot so we roll. Well we have 2 DEs and after first boss they both roll greed on everything so makes thing complicated. Well no one needs the epic from last boss so it's sharded. So we ended up with like 3 shards and 1 crystal. Now here is where it get complicated and I still call BS. Nothing is said and everyone rolls and I am assuming for the crystal. I roll a 94 and win....than the person who DEed the crystal goes now roll for Abyssal Crystal. I go "WTF" I thought we just rolled for it, he goes "No that was for shards". So I just told him whatever you're on my blacklist now good bye and left instance and group. My logic is when you roll it's 1 roll for everything that is DEed right? I mean we have 1 crystal and 3 shards. So 4 highest rolls get something. Highest gets the crystal..Simple enough? I am not sure how else it is done but that is how I've done it countless times so far.
