Leatherworking is also usefull to a hunter, because you can make better quivers and ammo pouches which let you fire faster and give you more space for your arrows/bullets, so you can do quests for longer periods, without having to go to buy new ammo.

alot of good advice, so ill giv e my simplified one. your new to the game, so u need some easy-to-read advice:
step 1) GET TO LEVEL 10. lol. you get a pet at 10. life without a pet is the worst! so getting to ten isnt fun at all. a cat, boar or raptor are usually a nice pet to start out with till u learn more.
step 2)try to get gathering jobs (mining, herbalism, skinning). why? cuz the other jobs like jewel crafting and leather working take MONEY and TIME. ie. i use my 70's gold to fund my low level's leather working. if you dont have a 70 w/ a ton of gold, leatherworking is tuff.
step3) join a guild if your not in one already. a good one with people to give you advice and help you. friends are an important part of WoW
step 4) read wowhead forums! as u can see forums are the fastest way to learn
thats basically it! theres a lot more to know, but you'll figure it out. enjoy

haha..i cant really disagree...but i guess thats given. i was referring of course to a "good" guild if you can find one. my point was more that this game is very dificult solo, and friends (where ever u findem) are very important. i was luck to initially find a good guild.
and you can skin leather work yourself, i just meant it is far easier with a 70 alt with a pile of gold right? :) you just buy mats from AH and make stuff right there. and lets face it, a lot of the low level items you make initially are very tuff to sell for a decent price, as quests will usually give better. Higher levels, yes, you can make great stuff and make good money. just initially its difficult.

Fishing for gold is useful if you've got patience and time. Cooking and first aid may well keep you alive (buffs from cooked food), and first-aid will reduce your downtimes after fights (as well as being able to heal mid-fight if nothing's damaging you).
Mind you, all the classes that can't self-heal should keep their first-aid up, and everyone loves a good food buff :)

role a different class. plain and simple. hunters are the most over played class and unless you know the class and know it well gl getting into raids
Yeah, I'm sure this guy is concerned about raiding being that he just started playing the game.
Additionally, your post implies that raiding is all this game has to offer. This could not be further from the truth.
Personally, I do not like raiding. I will go from time to time, but I'd much rather PvP.
