i need osme clarification. note im super new to druids, this is my first (lv 49 feral), but i need incentive to get to 70. everyone tells me thet druids a "average at everything, but not good at anyone thing". also they say druids are weak 1v1 are meant more as support roles for others (ie being able to switch to whats needed, like dps or tank or healer when one is missing).
is all this true? how good are druids when it comes to solo pvp or leveling? or are they helpless?
my exp with my hunter vs druids in pvp is that they usually are in a group and "finish me off" when im low on health. 1v1, they usually run or i win.
again, im not being insulting, i just need clarification. my druid is my #2 and i am enjoying playing him., wsg, we RULE as flag carriers. but 1v1 pvp i usually get owned (which is more due to me being new im sure).
any thotts?

it is well worth leveling to 70
you need insentive? here it is:
at 70 you can rival a mage with casting ability (balance)
at 70 in feral you will make even the bravest of players cower with fear as you shift causing havoc
at 70 your healing ability is almost as good as a preist
in pvp they are very very very good because as you mentioned they are the jack of all trades, but master of none? no they are the master of all
get to 70 and you will see a sudden boom in your attacks.
as for leveling stay in cat form and shred your way through every instance avalible to you
if you want any advice you can add me in game ( i'm on nordrassil and argent dawn)

what's the deal in arena?why they are not so good?
I don't understand that either, i play a feral druid in arena and have a blast, go bear form and it takes most of the team to kill me so they shift to something vulnerable, i feral charge a squishy, go kitty and tear into it....if it's a healing give it a 5 pt maim and go tag something else...
now if you want to be rated up in 2k, feral druids are shitty for that....but if you're in it for fun then you should be fine...
numerous times it's been me and one-two dps left in arena and I've outlived them to get the win. I solo'd a MS warrior and a Rogue one night....another time I fought 2 other druids to a standstill :P I got tickled and lost focus and let one of them get off a heal...
But for rated teams feral druids are not that hot, resto rules tho, with all those wicked HoTs...

so if am planing to lvl my druid for bg/arena you say NO NO NO?? :D
Those are two separate questions.
If you want to level for battlegrounds, then any druid spec can work. In battlegrounds the emphasis is not necessarily on killing other players all the time - there's flag running, objective holding, and even some PVE to worry about. Additionally the combat is often larger scale and less coordinated than in arenas. This means CC tends to be less emphasized (if nothing else, odds are somebody on your own side will break it) and a feral druid's PVp weaknesses are of less consequence. You're more likely to be able to sneak up on someone in the middle of the fray in cat form and rip their face off, and if you have to shift into bear form to outlast someone there's more likely to be someone else on your team available to help you out. And of course for the PVE portions of BGs (e.g., tanking in AV) nobody's better than a feral druid.
Feral doesn't do so well in
arenas
for the reasons tomasvalheru already said. But we do other things too:
A resto PVP spec (e.g.,
this
) is extraordinarily powerful in arena PVP. A spec like that has very powerful instant-cast HoTs and an enormous toolbox of ways to outlast damage and escape snares. The resto PVP druid is very hard to catch, very hard to kill, and can heal his own team while staying on the move far better than any other healer. They're just as powerful in battlegrounds as long as you have a team that understands you're going to be healing them, not DPSing.
Any balance spec is well suited to PVP because balance gives a druid high armor, good burst damage, and extended range CC (36 yard cyclone and roots is quite powerful). You could even throw together a moonkin spec that included the feral survivability talents like
this
.
bad spec.

bad spec.
Er, how so? The first spec Nabterayl linked to is the default arena resto spec; the second one, while uncommon, I've seen pretty often on balance druids who actively arena (as it combines balance DPS with the ability to "kite" via Feral Charge, etc.).
By all means, do explain what you meant; however, quoting a long post only to answer with just two words, with no explanation for the criticism, hardly is a good way to add to a discussion. :)

The only change i'd advise for the balance tree is that you should try to max out celestial focus for balance PvP, by taking points out of Moonglow or Dreamstate probably.
The feral and resto parts of that tree are fine as they are, you want bash, feral charge and furor.
(ie not "bad spec" at all)

11/11/39 is better for arena IMO or at least 8 into balance to give you uninterrupted cyclone- the most overused spell in your arsenal. druids are the best healers in arena because of the 1.5 and less cast time HoTs that they can stack on you and then run away // out of LoS.
also, how do you have a healing build without full nature's focus. cmon now.
