Spellpower issue?

Today i (FFB mage with about 1500 SP and >450 crit rating) got rejected for a Hc "because i only had 1500 spellpower". Its fine by me if people really only want "über DPS", but the lock in the group had 1800 spellpower (self-buffed, that is). Of course 1800 SP is more than 1500 spellpower, but the lock just didnt understand that i dont have any talents/skills that increase my spellpower. let me give you an example:
The lock was specced demo. that means he had 234 bonus spellpower from Fel Armor alone. he also got 39% of his spirit converted to spellpower (usually isnt a lot, but still at least more than 70), and he got 12% of his pets stam+int converted to spellpower (usually over 150 as well). that means he got 450 spellpower JUST FROM TALENTS. my point isnt that locks get more spellpower from talents, my point is just that someone refused taking me in a Hc group "because i didnt have enough spellpower", while my DPS is just fine.
It isnt just this one time though. i know my gear isnt the best, but some groups just refuse taking me in their groups "because i dont have enough spellpower". people just look at plain stats, while they shouldnt. 1800 spellpower on a mage is not the same as 1800 spellpower on a lock.

Dumb people are unable to judge the quality of a character's gear on more than one single stat. To those people, tanks are defined by their health, casters and healers by their spellpower, and physical DPS by their attack power.

When he said he was rejected from Hc, he means he got turned down for a heroic group. Not exactly sure when people started using "Hc" to indicate a heroic, though. I remember in BC, it was just "H" meaning a heroic.Heh, on my server we've been using "hc" from the start!

The only thing you can do is tell them how much dps you usually do on a dummy or something like that. The problem being there's no proof for that. The other choice is to reeducate people... or to just let them be fail and be glad not to have to run with them.

That makes me look at myself as a pally healer. I am 2015 sp with nothing on. Now I got a few talents on myself. One increases my int by like a good %. Than another makes 20% of my int also increase my SP. Than add another 2% int from my meta gem. What you get is my almost 1k int unbuffed gives me over 200 sp easily. Now as a healer I can gear more for +sp since I don't need sp so I see some healers go wow only X amount of sp. That is low, sorta disappoints me that some who have never played a DPS class don't know that a DPS class don't go for Crit and sp and that is all. Me personally I got a fair amount of mana pool, just the right amount of sp, good crit, good haste. If someone says your SP isn't high enough than just state your DPS since how you gear is up to you and if you can do 3k dps and you have low Sp than go for it. Since eventually some will realize that DPS isn't based on 1 stat alone and healing isn't based on SP alone.
