seeing a 70k health Bear tank when other tanks are at 40k, would be sillyAgreed, but the difference is not that big now anyway. Fully raid buffed, I have between 7000 and 9000 more HP than any other tank in the guild (I am the only feral druid in guild).
But the Paladin has nearly 41000 HP, about 52% passive avoidance raid buffed, about 19% passive block chance and he blocks for quite a hefty chunk (1400 minimum, much more with talent procs and special abilities). QQ
Our Death Knights have 38000-39000 HP, but also more than 60% passive avoidance raid buffed. Add Blade Barrier to that, they reach 70%. They have Bone shield (20% damage reduced from 6 hits with glyph), Icebound Fortitude for 35% additional DR, lasting 12 seconds. With an avoidance trinket plus Lichborne they become untouchable for 15 seconds. I really believe that is better than Survival Instincts + Frenzied Regeneration. With other talent investments they also can get Unbreakable Armor (gogo armor cap + ~7% more parry chance for 20 seconds) and / or 18 seconds to Icebound Fortitude. QQ
And on top of the cake come the Warriors. Take a look at
THIS
guy's defensive stats, unbuffed. Need I comment more? QQ
So what's to happen if my health and armor both drop? The armor will reach their level, I'll only have 5000 more HP and my 45% avoidance SURE AS HELL is lower than their rolling 70%. Savage Defense is not going to put Bears on par with the other tanking classes.
I shall officially QQ at the sorry state of bears if 3.1 comes live like this.

did it ever crossed your pretty little mind that druids don`t have block ...AND parry?...oh yes ...we only have stamina....and dodge(that is equal to all other tanks...or less...it depends) so...what do we have left...STAMINA...oh yes...let`s nerf stamina...druid is for healing...f^%% the bear :|
Hey now, no need to be angry. I'm a feral druid tank myself, I know this will hurt, but I trust in Blizzard to make it balanced.

True. I'm at around 45k health and the other tanks are at around 35k health. I presume it would be something like 40/55k when we get full tier 8,5 too. But then again, we'll pull through it, and blizzard will tweak it. They have reverted on changes before, and I wouldn't be surprised if they did again.
And yes, Death Knnnniggets are nice at tanking, and currently, so are we.
But, that means only one thing. We'll get balanced. Blizzard don't want one class overpowering another. So we'll get what we need, either in avoidance or health.

haha good one...i think i`ll do that myself...if blizzard doesn`t realise that we need those talents as they are right now...to continue tanking....well...if not...DK is an option or dual spec to healer...and i`ll be OT occasionally :))

I think Blizzard is underestimating how much stamina is already making up the difference between the tanks. They adjusted armor in response to Savage Defense, but then adjusted health down after that. If they want to make the health pools more the same, they need to address the reasons why our health pools compensate for lack of other options.

Correct. For instance, remove the diminishing returns on avoidance. Would be a step to allow compensate. It's not like we can get over 50% too easy anyway, not even in T8 I guess. Back in TBC, when I was tanking Brutallus, I was going for MAX avoidance (no diminishing returns on dodge). Getting only 60% passive dodge raid buffed to the extreme (food, elixirs, scrolls, totems etc.). Could get some insane dodge numbers but then again, they were completely needed: here's the reason...

From the data that Ludic posted, it seems awkward that the critical bleeds are only ticking close to 165% normal damage. I am confused by this mechanic as well... Just as if bleeds would critically hit for only 150% and he has Predatory Instincts 3/3 taking them upwards to 165% critical damage.
Is it me or this smells like Blizzard considers the bleed ticks just as magic damage that crits for 150% normal damage?... Just like
Ludic
observed in his edit.
Indeed, from some previous calculations, if bleeds were to critically tick for 226% normal damage, with the +30% to physical damage Savage Roar mechanics, that would have been a huge buff for feral DPS. Probably they (the Blizzard developers) figured that out and made bleeds to work like spell damage instead of normal physical attacks. Which, of course, I think is bull sh
i
t, but it does make sense...
The new Savage Roar Mechanic is, after all, 10% more efficient than the current +40% AP for bleeds. With critical ticks of 226% normal damage, that would have meant an average improvement of more than 60% of bleed damage for a pussy cat with at least 50% critical strike chance. If we factor in the +6% Savage Roar bonus glyph and the Shred glyph (+2 seconds to Rip for each Shred application when the bleed is running, up to 6 extra seconds), then yes, it seems like Blizzard took this step to tone down feral DPS a bit, since it would have probably scaled up to the point where the philosophy of 'hybrid class' would have been overthrown by the fact that a pussy cat would be able to top DPS meters or constantly be running head to head with pure DPS classes for the top 3 positions.
Anyway this is not a nerf compared to the present conditions by any chance. If we had previously calculated that the new Savage Roar mechanic plus the 226% critical bleeds would bring an average of +30% to sustained DPS for pussy cats (upwards to 33-35% with the two glyphs), now that we consider bleeds to behave like spell damage, it comes down to probably 15-20%, which is nice anyway, since it IS an improvement over the current situation. And Blizzard did say they want to
moderately
buff sustained feral DPS. 30-35% would have been a freaking HEFTY chunk of buffing. 15-20% sounds more like a moderate buff indeed.
And if now I am competitive enough to top the overall damage charts for a full Naxxramas run (Swipe FTW) and be in top 5 (often top 3) for almost all the boss fights, within 0.4% - 0.7% total damage difference from the leaders (warrior, enhancement shaman, hunter, warlock), this can only mean that pussy cats will give all those dedicated damage dealers a run for their money if played well.
Good spirit of observation,
bdb1
!
edit - just to be accurate, I went back to my previous Rip calculations: It does anywhere from 16630 to - hold on to your butts - 33280 (37596) damage
Going to the 150% normal damage for critical bleeds, with Predatory Instincts and meta gem, the critical bleeds would tick for 170% normal damage. That means that our base 16630 damage Rip (with Savage Roar @9000 AP) could crank up to 28271 damage (if all ticks would crit). With a 50% crit chance, that averages to 22450 damage over 20 seconds.
If we consider 2xT7 + Glyph of Rip + Glyph of Shred + Glyph of Savage Roar (the new versions), Rip would last for 13 ticks, and do from 22916 (no critical bleeds) to 38957 (100% critical bleeds). Averaging to 50% crit chance, we have 30936 damag per Rip, over 26 seconds.
If you ask me... I'm stupid. I take back that 'bull sh
i
t' statement I made before. The new conditions allow for much more average damage from Rip than before the two wonder glyphs. 226% normal damage for critical bleeds would have turned pussy cats into some monster DPS machines. Too overpowered even for my taste. I want to challenge other classes and struggle to to my best to keep up, not to have one single ability that does huge damage and accounts for 50% of my total.
KEK! Blizzard sure freaking loves pussy cats!

True, but Thaddius will most likely freak this kitty. I know he will put me and the MT on same side so I can't shred. Stupid RNG.I have a feeling you won't be seeing Thaddius too often once 3.1 arrives :P So let him go... he's had his days of glory.

I'm so traumatized for this content that it just won't let me go.Actually I'm gonna miss Patchwerk the jolly fatso. He's always in a mood to play. I LOVE him! And I'll miss him so much :( And also fighting him (and the whole Naxxramas for that matter) while listening to
THIS
. Mwahahaaa...
[Actually, according to some recent research within he WoW community revealed that listening to death metal improves DPS output by a value between 10% and 15%. Also the same studies showed that paladins top the healing meters because they receive a +50% effect to healing spells while listening to
THIS
