Depending on your experience/persistansy i'd say an average would be 12-15 days played to get to 80 from level 1. But you could do it in under 10 days if you're really persistent.
P.S. In a hurry so just wanted to leave a quick reply!
Edit:
I cant really remember any exact numbers but i remember doing 32-35 in an average 45min/level during casual play. 70-80 I know is doable in around 30 hours played since there's really no problem averaging 500k exp/hour.
The biggest issue with giving numbers on how long it will take is because everyone has different playing conditions and playstyles. Some people like exploring, while others just want to get to 80 ASAP (most people reading this i guess). Another big factor is if you have a main or high level friends that can support you with instance gear and money.

Raulnor is correct about the trash blade, it's the best weapon you can get for leveling.
About the time it takes to reach 80, yes that was real life days i was confusing myself thinking of my last paladin which i got to 80 from the start of one weekend until the end of the next weekend.
Most probably around 5 days /played in order to get to 80 though. Quite similiar to questing i'd say.

I have been fighting with my Pally for quite awhile leveling as Ret. I was looking up faster spots to level in or something when I kept seeing guides that said to level faster in Prot. This struck my odd because, "Tank Spec to level?"
Anywho, I was bored enough to give this a shot and.....HOLY CRAP! Been running with your guide since level 40, last night at level 46 I went into WPL and pulled the ENTIRE big graveyard section (me at level 46 vs 8-12 mobs at level 50). They never got me below half life.
This guide has changed my view of paladins and now Im playing my pally char more than my main ;)
Its fun actually pushing my limits to see how many mobs I can pull :D
Cant wait till Northrend. I want to see how many undead in Icecrown I can pull at once ;)

Sorry for not answering but i looked at the replies in a rush a week ago and, well honestly i forgot.
Thanks alot for the appreciation and i'm very happy to hear you're enjoying the guide :).
On another note i've added a new location (levels 71-76), which should be a suitable alternative for the Argent Stand location to get you to 77, it's very detailed and a really great place to grind.

By putting points in Deflection you would delay your way to getting HotR which pretty much allows you to pull 3-4 times as many mobs as you could without it.
Also this whole way of leveling is all about surviving, the longer you survive the more you can pull and the faster you can ding. And the protection talent tree is called just that for a reason ;p
I'm glad to hear that you're appreciating the guide :)

Level 32-35
(A) Go'shek farm in Arathi Highlands. ~1 200 HP, level 33-35 Map
You can easily get groups of 6-20 Hammerfall orcs here, just remember to keep a good pace.
Does this include the Poens in the center? I'm there right now and all the peons are evading and running away about halfway through a Consecration CD, but as still in aggro range and run right back up to attack me.

Some of the Peons around the buildings might be stuck on objects or parts of a building.
The ones in the center on the field shouldn't be any problems though.
Easiest way to prevent this is to find whoever is evading and then kill them first and then continue with your AoE'ing.
If the problem persists there might be mobs stuck under the ground. This i'm afraid there's nothing to do about other than staying away.

No, the peons walking around in the center will run up to me, get hit with consecrate, then run away, then aggro on my again. The most I've been able to get with pulling them around is 7, a lot of them are running away even with consecrate being put down as much as possible.

Then my best bet would be what i suggested earlier, there is a mob stuck under ground which gets engaged in combat with you when pulling the others. Since he cant reach you and thus evades, the rest of the mobs that are also in combat with you will also evade.
If you can get hold of a GM they might be able to fix it, but that usally takes a couple of hours so i wouldnt bet on it.
Otherwise there's not much to do other than to avoid that area.

Had quite a bit of fun with this so far and levelling from 30 to 39 has been relatively painless.
The best fun was with the murloc island up the coast north of Theramore. I just wish there were more of them. It was too easy to clear the whole island.
Since then I've actually had trouble finding places with enough mobs. They either go down too quickly, or are too may levels above me so take ages to kill (due to all my misses).
Right now (39) in Stranglethorn Vale with the raptors, but it is frustrating as they are far apart, there is not many of them, and they don't run off and chain-pull each other like the murlocs did...
Hoping to find another dream area again soon with lots of mobs, no casters, and all "runners".
Glad to hear you're enjoying it!
The only trouble you should have with mobs being higher level would be that they do more damage to you than you can heal yourself for through SoL/JoL. Consecrate cant miss and ret aura is only affected by how often the attacker hits you and those are your two greatest sources of damage output.
You could actually stay with the murlocs until 40-41 if you're finding the other locations to be sub-par. And then move on to feral scar vale in feralas for the yetis. But if you scout a location feel free to let me know! I could always use new ones.

Pirates in Tanaris? Near where the ship is, you could probably chain pull quite a few there, if my memory serves me correctly. Just about up to there on my Warrior, so I'll give it a shot soon.
