FULL epic feraldruid, PvE specced, 4/5 t7 gear.
Doing 1200DPS in VH...
hunter doing 600 DPS in heroic UK...
Getting asked for gear and stats for a heroic COT run and me thinking" "nice, stats get asked, this is gone be fast"(me having Nax25 gear mostly). I go in and find 2 of his guildies, the 2 other DPS doing les DPS then the tank, I pushed 3k-3.5k DPS that run and we stil made the timer in the nick of time.
I'm going to get dual spec and go prot when needed. No scrubs like that get into my party.

you do not mention names of the person simply bcs it is against the ToS. bcs:
a) you cna be lying and causing grief for the said person.
b) the said person who have another side of the story may not read wowhead and wondering why people sometimes calls him a ^&*!@#bag.

During patch some melee dps didn't take off thier priest buff and were getting 1 shooted by patch's hateful strike......
That simply means that your tanks did not generate enough aggro for some reason.
Notice the "threatening target" part
.
Read the tooltip please.
10-man: 2nd on aggro list will get them.
25-man: 2nd on aggro list will get most of them, 3rd on aggro list will get some of them.

Wow, you're ignorant. You claim to "fix" his post and say that threat has no part in the mechanics of it, yet the tooltip clearly states that threat is a deciding factor.
If a melee has high health but low-to-no threat, he won't be hit by it.
If a tank has low health but second-to-highest threat, he'll likely get hit by it.
The "highest health" part is only a deciding factor if there are a few or more high-threat melee/tanks in range of the ability.

Instead of saying that "my 70 alt does more damage" you could have gave out pointers.

Except that people who do 400dps at 80 are beyond pointers.
400 dps is autoattacking in quest gear. Or wanding, for those casters out there.
If they were using ANY of their skills, in any order, at all, they should be breaking 800 or more easily.
If they're so bad/dumb as to not even try to do anything, screw em.

I have a horribly geared holy pally that manages a whopping 1000 odd dps on the rare occasions i actually try to kill something with it. I do have to confess though, that autoattacking he only pulls ~200 dps........ I only mention it to be a troublemaker :P

Holy paladins aren't exactly geared or specced for auto-attacking.
A ret paladin should be able to near double that.
