Excuse me if this has been covered in previous posts, I searched and was unable to find anything about it, but I'm wondering if anyone in the PTR knows if the new 5% crit debuff from
Improved Shadowbolt
stacks with similar effects from
Improved Scorch
/
Winter's chill
?
Of course seems like the best choice to take for raiding affliction in 3.1 anyways, however I'm curious whether it will simply be taken for the 5% increase to SB damage, rather than both the damage increase and crit debuff. Of course with a lot of mages raiding as Arcane these days maybe the 5% crit bonus will be more common than the other mage debuffs?

it doesn't stack no.
this debuff will follow the recent trend towards several classes/specs covering the same debuffs so that no one class/spec is absolutely required.
the addition of a straight damage increase is very good though and i'm glad they added it. as you say, it will be a solid raiding talent even if you always run with a mage.

Thanks for the swift reply, good to know. Bit disappointed that it doesn't stack, though I understand why.

bear in mind that for most locks, the new isb is actually a nerf, not a buff.
You've traded a 10% damage buff that for a mid/high end lock had a 90% uptime (roughly 50% crit rate required for 90% uptime), for a flat 5% buff. To be honest, I don't count the 5% crit as factoring in at all, its inferior to the mage/dk options, so it simply won't be up.

my instinct is to disagree with that. of course, i can be swayed by maths but 90% uptime? i know that a raid buffed caster has a greatly inflated crit rate but do aff locks cast enough SB (currently) to maintain that kind of uptime? i'm pretty sure i've never managed to have 90% of my SBs launch while i have the ISB buff on.
from what i gather the other classes' buffs will be decreased to 5% too, making this the same raid debuff.

if the other classes debuffs are reduced to 5% then at least its a blanket nerf rather than a class specific one.
And I guess you are probably correct asakawa, I haven't really taken into account the drop offs during dot refreshes - my bad :)
From a deep demo perspective my numbers are pretty correct, but for a deep aff spec I guess they won't be.

ah i see. yeah i wasn't thinking of demo. funny cos that's exactly what i've been doing most of on the ptr lately.
