Arena FAQ- Why are you losing more points than winning?

Everyone is talking about being in low brackets, and losing a lot of points. This is to help explain the phenomena. It's not a perfect system, but this is the issue you have.
You, have low gear, and tend to lose, a lot. Or maybe, you have descent gear, but still lose a lot.
Alternatively, you had a descent rating, and just picked up a new partner and now the points seem to stack against you.
This is because of the new "Hidden Rating" system.
The problem, while you made a new team and all is well, your hidden rating is still at the rating of your previous team.
Your hidden rating is designed to make the team closer to the lower hidden rating player's rating.
This is good, and bad. Bad for the team's rating, and higher rated member's rating. Good for the lower person's rating.
The only way to solve this is to win a LOT of arena matches, as this is the only true way to get a rating to "catch up." Losing doesn't close the gap from what I've seen, it only sinks the team raiting(or higher rated player). You will be paired up against teams with ratings the same as the
lower hidden rating
, and should be able to handle a lot of them, assuming you are skilled to the higher rating level.
However, if you lose too much, or remain 1-1 wins to loss ratio, the team rating and higher hidden rating(and PR if you keep the higher rating team) will suffer, quickly.
Example- I had a 1700 2v2, but my partner hasn't shown at all, all week. Played with another mage, and every time we won, it was 2-9 team rating points, while his PR went up 20-25 points. Every time we lost, the PR and team rating went down 12-21 points, and I didn't see a difference in his loss vs the team's loss(at least didn't notice, and he hovered at 1500-1550 the whole time).
If you make a new team with a new partner, you don't see the difference in point accumulation, because you both start with the same PR/Team rating, but the points are issued to close the gap of the
hidden rating
, and thusly, the team doesn't get as many points, but the hidden rating will acquire anywhere from 1-20 points per win more than the team rating does.
This means, you can play arena all you want. You really, REALLY don't want to sink a team to 1.2k or less. Digging out of that hole is painful and slow. The hidden rating system did help people who are working together, and have equal PR/Hidden rating to stay more stable while climbing thru the ratings. It hurts people who have a bad PR/Hidden rating, trying to get onto a descent team and don't win the majority of the time(2-1 or more).
The double edged sword does 2 things. Encourages people to stay at a higher rating, and moves lower rating people up really fast when they have a skilled partner. You can see this when you look at SK-gaming. There are teams where one person has a record of 130-50 at 2200 rating, and his partner has 61-20, with a 2145 rating.
I hope this helps with the confusion.

Thankyou so much for this, honestly I have been so confused on how it works. This helps a ton.

I myself had this problem with hidden rating. For the first 30 games my partner and myself stayed at about 1450 while winning most of our games. Eventually either we got better, or the rating changed as we were able to start climbing up. My suggestion on dealing with hidden rating is to simply keep playing. Don't reroll your team, just keep playing and if you are winning enough matches, eventually you will see results.
