I think the argument becomes something like the Glyph of Wisdom vs. Glyph of Light.
on classes where a crit = 100% more damage, you can say that 1% crit = 1% more damage (e.g. death knight spells automatically do 100% more, instead of the usual 50% default on spells)
With a crit on heals being 50% + a certain amount of mp5 (for lack of a better term) it becomes a bit muddy to try to compare 50% + mp5 to 1% more output (divinity).
Back to the original point, some say that the Glyph of Light is not useful because it's usually wasted on overheals, so Divinity from a healer standpoint could be seen as just as 'useless' as Glyph of Light.
(as opposed to it being a tank talent where receiving 5% more heals is seen as more acceptable)
If we could still downrank, it would be a no-brainer to get. I'm thinking that there are circumstances where it is valuable, and a lot more where it is not valuable at all, but then, I'm always used to the efficiency route instead of the output route, so I don't see it as better than Sanctified seals. It doesn't make it a wrong choice though.

I was wondering..now that a new prot talent called "divinity" is coming out, and we dont have enough talent points to max out both divinity and sanct. seals, what would you suggest to get and why? max out div or sanct? a lil in both? any suggestions?
Sanctified Seals is, unsurprisingly, being removed. Barring further changes, I'd expect the choices for PvE Holy to be 51/5/15 (Divinity+Conviction) and 51/20/0 (Divine Guardian+Imp Devotion Aura).
Sanctified Seals: Renamed Sanctity of Battle. Now also increases damage done by Exorcism and Crusader Strike by 5/10/15%.

From me testing on the PTR, Sanctity of Battle still increases crit, but now it improves some ret skills, still go with Sanctity of Battle, it is better than divinity.
I'll make a few rough calculations, based on my observations, not known facts. I'm going to say that a crit heals for 1.75 times a normal heal, and returns 60% mana.
Sanctity of Battle
.03*1.75= .0525 bonus healing, 1.0525 times normal healing.
.03*.6=.018 bonus mana, 1.018 times normal mana.
Divinity
1.05 times normal healing
1.05 times normal mana
I'd go with 2 points in Divinity and 3 in Sancitity of Battle. But that's just my opinion.

The note says it "now also increases..."
I would take that to mean in addition to the current benefit, now does more. Dunsinane, are you on the PTR and have seen this type of nerf?
That makes me sad if true :(
I stand corrected. I haven't had the opportunity to test Ret on the PTR, so I was going with what had been explained to me by a Ret Paladin. Hopefully, that'll teach me to look closer before listening to QQ. ;-)
In that case, 51/2/18 is very much an option.

I'd go with Divinity, 5% direct bonus to all heals including crit heals or 3% greater chance to crit tho i suppose adding in divinty will probably replace a bit of sp so you can get more crit/mana/haste in your gear
and yes is added on to the already existing talent
You have to compare it 3% to 3% not 5% to 3% because we're talking about the relative value of a single talent point here. You're not going to spend 5 points in Sanctified Seals.

would be my ideal build.
Also, updating my calculations, because I realized that I forgot to subrtract the healing from the mana used. Updated they are:
Sanctity of Battle
.03*1.75= .0525 bonus healing, 1.0525 times normal healing.
.03*.6+.0525=.0705 bonus mana, 1.0705 times normal mana.
Divinity
1.05 times normal healing
1.05 times normal mana
This shows that sanctity of battle is more useful than Divinity, 3 points of SnoB and 2 in Divinity and you get:
3 Sanctity of Battle and 2 Divinity
1.02(.03*1.75)=.05355, 1.05355 times normal healing.
.03*.6+.05355=.07155, 1.07155 times normal mana.
