For PvE with Blessing of Kings 3% raid wide buff > 3% mob specific damage increase imo.
(aka Improved Seal of the Crusader > Crusader)
and PvP build... varies too much due to personal opinion
esp for BG vs Arena PvP

I'm assuming both of yoru builds were PvP oriented?

I generally see Ret Pallies as pvp, but now that I looked back, I editted my first link, which is intended for raiding. ( I am sure some will take Sanctified Judgement instead of something else tho )
and yes, the 2nd one for pvp

Vindication is generally considered useless for raiding

If you want to make changes i think it's a good idea to make a new post and bump the threads since people who have been in the thread don't read the old posts. it was an accident i glanced at this change.
btw that's pretty much the standard 5/11/45 build

I dont understand why so many ret paly's spend 11 points in prot treet to get kings. If you are raiding there WILL be a holy or Prot paly who will have it and you do not need to worry about it. Its not worth wasting 5 points on either opening talent (both worthless to a ret paly) imo when you could be uping your AP and longevity in the holy tree by padding your strength and intelect. The plus hit is nice, but if your raiding your gear should have plenty of that on it and you shouldnt have to waste all those points just to get that.
My guild's class/raid officer for paladins is a ret paladin
Kara runs sometimes without prot or holy paladins and that's when he specs 5/11/45
for 25 man he specs 5/8/48
for PvP he specs 10/0/51
in order not to respec too much, he sometimes raids 25 mans with 5/11/45.
that's all there's to it, where and how your raiding and who you're raiding with will determine if you need kings or not as a ret paladin.
funny, I haven't seen an abundance of +hit on ret paladin gear, but that just might be me.
if it comes down to getting +hti or + str gems, 8 points in prot and + str is better imho.
but you're right, the opening talent on prot sucks, even for prot paladins and it'd be better spent in holy or ret if possible.
