Well, I'm not sure why you would ask this kind of question on a gaming site. Have you ever heard of
www.christianforums.com
? It is a huge forum for christians, actually.
Catholics believe in Eternally Virgin Mary (never had sex with her husband Joseph even after Jesus was born) and good works and Purgatory. None of these are in the Bible. It is just traditional belief for Catholics.
Baptists don't believe in any of that. They believe in following
exactly
what the Bible says, and the Bible says nothing about Purgatory, and Jesus had several earthly brothers (brothers from same mother, Mary, but their father was Joseph - which already refutes the theory that Mary was a virgin all her life). Also, in the book of Romans, Jesus said that He is the
only
way to heaven. That means good works cannot bring you to heaven. God said that "our righteousness is like filthy rags," which means our good works is not going to be good enough to bring us to heaven.
That is why Jesus came down here to die for our sins, because otherwise there is absolutely no way we can be good enough to enter heaven. Now that He has died for us, we can trust in him and receive him as our Savior. That is what it means to be "saved."
It is not a good idea for Christians to marry non-Christians. If your girlfriend married you while you are still Catholic, there will be a huge conflict because you two believe in different things. So that is why she told you she can't continue going out with you anymore. Divorces are always heartbreaking. :( Best to not follow through in marriage unless you both agree on the major issues like religion and politics.
Hope that helps. If not, you could try getting some more info from that site. Sorry for the wall of text.

Baptists have many beliefs not supported by the Bible. The Antichrist, and the Holy Trinity are two examples that come to mind.
The bible does support this, but it is based on interpretation. Jehovah's Witnessess beleive God created Jesus, which they claim is supported by the bible, but it doesnt say that. Its open to interpretation, but the Antichrist and the Holy spirit, jesus, and God being one is supported.

Progress for the sake of progress is never a good goal. ...
Why not? and I dont mean some weak gov't excuse for blowing money. I mean, should we not try to advance ourselves and our civilization as much as possible whether or not we know the eventual outcome?Progress for betterment is different than progress for progress. Progress for something that is not beneficial is just a waste of effort.

..Socially, though, society should work toward more open mindedness, and less double standards.
Personally, I agree with you, but for arguments sake, what 's the benefit to a society where "anything goes" ? Some would argue that the more tolerant we have become the further we have degenerated.
Tolerance is not the same thing as open mindedness. I am against tolerance. If I accept something, fine, if I don't accept something, I will NOT tolerate it. I will speak out against it.

You're highly liberal and preach tolerance torwards homosexuals, yet you're an intolerant $%^&*!@ to everyone who's religious. That's how they were raised and it's the basis of their lifestyle. Without it, their lives are in ruin. Yet you insult them. What? Now everyone who's faithful is inferior to you? ^&*!@#$.
Hahahha this fantastic.
You cannot choose to be Homosexual.
You do choose to follow a Religion.
Without it, their lives are in ruin.
Nope.
Whether or not being against Religion in-general is a good idea, I'm not going to say. But comparing being Homosexual to being religious is a very stupid way to try to get your point across.

Whether or not you can choose to be a homosexual, you can choose whether or not to be a closed minded bigot homosexual that attacks every religion baselessly, or not... just like religious zealots..

Uh okay I don't see what this has to do with this "discussion" or anyone involved in it.

I don't have a choice. I was born loving God. It's the way I am. Accept it or you are a bigot.
(do you see the double standard here?)

When you have scientific proof of you having been born loving god, please do tell me.
