I just spent the past few hours putting this together. Its
my first custom UI. I wanted something simple since I'm still leveling. Any comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
I'm not completely happy with how I fitted Omen and Recount in there, but I like those two for tanking 5mans.

Not the worst first UI over, needs alot of work and ive got a few ideas.
Ditch the minimap, you dont want anything flashy that'll distact you from gameplay, try something simple like Squeenix.
I wasn't planning on using that minimap initially but when I saw the default skin, I fell in love with that "Nexus" look. I like how the buttons fade out until I mouse-over them. I'll probably keep it for now based on personal taste.
As said by Rellik, Omen and Recount are WAAAAAAAAAY to long, just like that word, shrink them and place them somewhere more out the way, in a corner or something.

Hehe, yeah the do look pretty ridiculous like that. Just wanted to fill out the bottom, but yes they will definately change.
The same can be said for your buff timers, you dont want them smack bang in the middle of the screen, move them to the top right hand corner, ussually the best place for buff bars, or if you wanna try something new, get Satrina Buff Frames.
Believe it or not, that is Satrina Buff Frames. I customized the look. I kind of like having it near my toon (and near my unit frames) because its easier for me to see when Killing Maching and Rime proc. I don't have that addon that has numbers and abilities jumping from my toon in combat. I admit their placement is off though, but I have them to only appear during combat. I will continue to adjust this.
Buttons... where to start, you have way to much spacing between buttons, remove it and make it smaller, its also a good idea to keep them in large rows, instead of having them scale upwards, you want to keep the area surrounding your character as empty as you can.
Try to keybind all your buttons, for instance your first bar is bound 1 - 6, thats simple, so why have that bar on screen?, if you feel confident remove it, you want as few bars on screen as you can live with.
Thanks, I will make some adjustments; im not particularly happy with it 100% either. As for the keybound bars (1-6), I'm not completely comfortable not having them onscreen because I can't see when they come off their cooldowns. I know I should have a set rotation but when you get unexpected pats or some other emergency situation, I'd like to see what choices are available to me rather than spamming blindly.
Remove your bag bar, micro menu, and stance bar, you should know the hotkeys for these by now,and bind your stance bar to something easy to remember, i have mine set to Ctrl + F1 if its any use.
Also, Get buttonfacade, it'll make your buttons look nice, i recomend the Caith Skin, or Apathy, but experiment yourself, but dont go for anything flashy.
I'll definitely check those out and make adjustments.
Now, last thing really is your Unit Frames, X-perl, ugly, annoying, but they're good for beginners, i started out on them, so did alot of people, try to configure to show the least irrelivent info, get rid of the portrait, the level if you want, the little number below that, and the class, cmon its gotta be pretty obvious what class they are right? if not its shown in the tooltip, personally, i recomend you change to pitbull, try Pitbull4, its alot lot lot lot lot simpler than the last one, its worth a try if your feeling adventerous, but X-Perl will last for now.
Yeah I really didn't want to go with X-Perl (ugly AND confusing settings), but I was just trying it out. I'll probably go with ag_UnitFrames but I'll definately check out Pitbull4. I might like that one more.
Overall, your main focus is to keep the center of your screen clear, and as much as you can.
Take any advice here ive given, or dont, doesnt matter to me but i hoped ive helped, and i look forward to seeing the improved version.
Use
www.wowinterface.com to find all addons listen above, personally dont use curse but either way they're at
www.curse.comHaving been dependent on wowmatrix, I went to Curse having only been familiar with them when I learned wowmatrix is dead now. I'll check out wowinterface for sure, though. Thanks again for the advice. Much appreciated.

Okay, I made some changes and improvements to
my UI. I think it looks much, much better. I couldn't find PitBull4 so I went with ag_UnitFrames which I love for its simplicity. I'm still using Satrina Buff Frames but I made it icons only with cooldown swipes. I went through the options over and over but I couldn't find a way to lessen the padding between buff/debuff icons. I'd like them to be closer to each other. Thanks to Nuffer for recommending Buttonfacade.

If I understand what your asking, buff spacing can be found under the layout tab in the box on the the right.

EDIT: haven't messed with Pitbull4 yet, but I've still been tweaking my UI.

thisI might upload the UI to wowinterface some time this week.
IMO, the darker border looks better as it fits with the action bars.
If you post your wowinterface link as soon as it uploads, I will be the first to download it. :D
I really....really love your ui.
