You can simply switch the texture (usually a .tga file), but i wanted a bit more flexibility than pitbull_aura would allow, so i used SBF for all buffs, skinned with buttonfacade.
I tried to do that before but I couldn't make it work properly :( I have a seperate SBF frame for heroism but when i tried to apply filters for the new target frame it just didn't show anything

I meant it doesn't show any buffs in the new frame, i've not had any problems with the skin
How did you filter it to show your hots rather than all the buffs?

Not finished at all. Coming along though. Gotta choose some new colors and stuff - gonna be nice.
This looks really good. Want to list addons maybe do an upload?
There are already multitudes of addons with that exact set-up uploaded on the net, I don't think another is needed.
On the topic of this being a "homebrew UI thread", for someone who has been here for 26 days (as per your tag), I wouldn't say you're in much of a position to claim what this thread is for over people who have been posting in said thread for months. I hardly find it bad to show a UI that you are using that you didn't create if you are giving credit to the person who made it. This thread is about showing UIs in general. I have seen a post by the creator of the thread stating that this is purely for people who do it themselves. Showing a UI that someone else made (and giving credit) is just as good as showing one you made yourself, it's still helping others.

Slight updates from my last UIs. I'm really happy with this layout overall. The layout is more or less the same for my DK and my rogue, since there isn't too much that I need differently between the two.
Putzing
Raid group
Tanking
I still need to fix up the buffs that pitbull shows and doesn't show, as well as move Quartz out of my rune addon for my DK, but I've been lazy. Before people ask, the two large unit frames are myself and target (left and right), and above each of those is my focus, and target-of-target. SBF shows my buffs/debuffs horizontally at the top, and the target's buffs/debuffs vertically on the right hand side. I normally don't have recount shown while I'm raiding, but I had it up in Nexus, because I was messing with the DPS, saying I could race them. =P

The raid frames are just Pitbull. I've used Grid before, but once you figure out how Pitbull works (and how amazing it is), there's not much need for Grid anymore. =)

Its a shame that new UI's seem to be improving in some ways, but lacking in others...
I know you can all make functional UI's, but I'm sure you can make it look good at the same time!

To be fair, if someone makes a UI, without notice they will forge it to their own needs and play style. Your idea of functionality may differ from my own, or anyone elses.
Also, I was wondering why I hadn't seen you here for so long, you've quit WoW. And apparently you're Australian, also. Where abouts are you?
Edit: Perhaps the more appropriate question is, "Where the bloody hell are ya?"
1st
: True, I 'm just sick of seeing people put the effort into making a UI with all the necessary features for raiding/PvP, and then not spending a little longer touching it up and making it a little pretty.
2nd
: Yeah, work sucks.
3rd
: And I'm from Adelaide, Miss Bingle...

Functionality > Looks.
Always.
Good looking for me, is when the UI is what most people consider boring and ugly. Lacking in any way of good looks isn't bad, lacking functionality however, is terrible. Everything you do should be to make your UI more functional.

Some of the best looking UIs in this thread have serious functionality issues. Stuff like debuffs on the player being tiny and/or miles away from other important elements, use of pretty fonts with chronic legibility issues, prime real estate given to... the minimap (unless ofc you are a full time farmer).
Getting your UI to be highly functional and positively improve your playing is actually pretty hard. Making it look nice is just having decent taste and reasonable design skills. I'd far rather have a UI that works and was ugly than one that was pretty but hard to use. Luckily with some effort you can have both :-)
Aaaaanyways, my latest UI:
