yeah, i think portraits will be the new trend..
but i'll probably stick to my layout from wikiUI 2.0 and fiddle around with it, currently going for an emeral'ish look.

kewt zeldrin, but I feel we need something new. Pretty much all the good UI's, both here and on the EU forums, looks the same. Same textures, same layouts.
There's only so much you can do with a UI, and it's a difficult thing to get ideas for, because you can create something amazingly beautiful, but it won't work for us raiders, or pvpers, or questers.
We need looks and function, and finding the balance is difficult.

Amen to that ! All the "UI's" (If you can call them that) I have made look pretty but are pretty useless when it comes to raiding. Probably down to the fact that I cba to actually config raidframes & make omen fit in somewhere.

then I have to say, you're doing it wrong. I adept my UI's to what I need, since I rarely PvP (more than bgs) I try to keep the design as simple but still with what I need.

You don't need the most minimal UI out there.
You don't need the most graphically pleasing UI out there.
You don't need the best UI out there.
You don't need the most innovative UI out there.
You need a UI that you like.
You don't have to base it around what OTHER people like. If you like X-Perl and I don't, use it anyway. It's all preference. I hate when people go around saying that a UI sucks, when it probably does in your eyes, but the user likes it.
IT'S ALL ABOUT WHAT YOU LIKE FFS.

then again, that's up to the creator of the UI to take the critiques for what he thinks they are. It's a forum, so everyone has the right of free speech. And you can't expect someone to judge your UI through your eyes, people will always have diffrent tastes and ways of doing things.

Agreed, but a lot of people are too concerned about what other people think. Changing whole UIs just because one person didn't like what they saw.
If you come to a forum you're bound to get criticism, but you don't have to follow every single step.
For example, a lot of people hate on portraits, but some like them (Savantido/Tapestry, to name one of them). He/she likes them and usually gets the comment: "I love your UI, but skip the portraits".
What this means is that the person looking at the UI dislikes the portraits, but Tapestry still likes them so he/she isn't going to change them.
You have to find what you like, and still listen to what other people have to say. But you don't have to follow their way of doing things.

buff bars are for short duration de/buffs imo.
i wont comment on TitanPanel, as people who use seems to have issues with leaving it :)
make your castbar match the timers
throttle/filter the things in your combat-text mod.
why all those
keybound
buttons showing?

Any way to remove party frames when not in raid?
Hopefully I get to to this before any of the... blunter posters get to it.
- Your chat text is to big, size 12 is perfectly legible
- Xperl is... not bad, but configure the display at least, I'm sure you don't need your xp bar at 80
- Scale your action bars down a bit, and work on using less of them. Hide your bag bar and learn to use shift+b, and hide your menu bar. Consider removing some unessecary things, such as professions, hearth, useless macros, and abilities you very very very rarely use.
- get rid of the raid HPS / DPS in the corner, and move recount into it's place. You don't need them at all, and it'll lighten up the cpu load it puts out.
- These changes should let you put your cooldown bar lower, and out of the raid, consider lowering it's size too, it's pretty big.
- Move grid under your player frame, instead of the middle of the screen, and shrink it to about 25x30 or so. works great for me
- Configure sexymap, please, and get rid of those coords.
- Do you really need a loot monitor?
- No gearscore allowed :/
Edit: And what the %^&* is with the viewport... or whatever those black bars are? Not necessary at all x.x
Edit Edit: Also to answer your question. I'm pretty sure somewhere in the Xperl config, there's a little check box for party frames, and you just click it off, don't be afraid to config your addons ever. They're there to help you :D
