Will that work? I didn't get an opportunity to try last night due to raiding -- I tried checking the frame name in BT4's config mode, and the only "new" element that was shown was called something like "BTbar4ConfigOverlay" , I didn't try it as I had a sneaking suspicion that it would cause my panels to only show when Bartender is in config mode. If nothing else, I'll try it tonight if I get a chance before raid time.

I've been using this UI for a few months now and it seems to be working well for me, I forgot to have Omen up, but its a small rectangle that i place right above the chat box.
Also, I'm playing on a laptop, so my screen space is smaller than what I'd like.
Terrible. And gg@clicking SoC.

Everything, if there was something specific I would've told you about it. But that is just straight out terrible from my view.
edit,
If I were to tell you something specific, it would be the exact same thing that has been repeated in this thread probably 300-400 times.

Ok, well thanks for your opinion. ^.^
If I may ask though, what, to you, makes an UI acceptable?
(no sarcasm, just getting some info from those more experienced on this matter than myself)
Symmetry
Originality
Style
Colours
Layout
Designing a UI is like designing anything else, it's all about matching things together. You wouldn't use pink rims on a orange car for example. Are you playing a game or a UI -- don't let the UI be more distracting than the game.
Important things at important places, comsumables and crap can be left along the edges/hidden/OPie'd and so on.
Learn to prioritize.
bbod's are rarely, I'll go ahead and say never instead, any good. They force you into filling them instead of using, for say, a panel that adapts to your layout instead.
I like a more subtle approach over a graphical UI. With colours and everything.
bad layout of post is bad :<

I beg to differ.

Sorry, but it still doesn't look any good if you ask me
:/

Ugh, my post got destroyed by random sporadic maintenance.
The bar hides during combat without issue, I just wasn't sure what (if anything) to parent the panels to in order to make them hide as well.
I imagine parenting it to a single button would work, I was just concerned with size/scaling issues. I noticed sometimes when I shape/place a panel, then parent it, the size changes. Though, I imagine it wouldn't be an issue if I just resized it after parenting it. I'll take a look when I next get a chance -- gotta get groceries tonight after work, hopefully I'll get a chance to fix it up before raid time.

If the bar disappears, you can parent the panel to it and it'll disappear with it.
Regarding the sizing, are you using fixed values or %'s?

I figured it would work -- I was more concerned about the fact that I can't seem to get an identifier for the bar as a whole -- only a single button on the bar.
I quickly started using fixed values after my eyeballed, corner dragging sizes kept changing whenever I moved the panels or nudged them. However, I noticed that the size of the panel takes into consideration the little buffer area around the background of the panel when I enter the a number. For example, my health bar is, say, 190 units wide, when I set the panel to be 192 units wide (single pixel on each side), it's about 8 pixels too narrow.
I'm still probably only in the beginner-intermediate stage of most UI addons, but I'm learning quickly, I've been using the default UI for three and a half years, so it's a sharp adjustment.

It's about scaling, the diffrence with pixels.
But anyhow, you can parent it to an active button -- a button with a spell/macro/item on it.

Assuming your using kgPanels, if you go into the menu for that specific panel there's a place where you'll find the Insets and they're all set to either 4 or -4. Change them all to 0 and then it will work correctly.
