I issue the same dare to you. You, of course, must be the fountain of good taste & originality since you felt the need to dare everyone else to impress you.
So, lets see it...razzle and dazzle me.
/waiting.

Frankly, demanding something 'original' and 'never been done before' is not really possible anymore, since pretty much everything has been done. Completely new and impressive things pop up perhaps a couple times a year, but most of the time they're the kinds of stuff that is not practical for most people.
However. I still would like to have
these unitframes
. I know pHishr did them at
one point
, but frankly the rest of the UI is
horrible
not to my tastes (I mean purple-blue gradient panels and MM:SS timers, what were you smoking?)

I'm not asking anyone to
impress me
. I'm wondering if anyone can design a UI that hasn't been done a thousand times over. Coldkill had a nice concept with the square UFs with the portrait in the center, which may or may not be 100% original but hasn't been done nearly as much as a horizontal UF with the health on top and power on bottom.
You seem pretty defensive about the subject.

Updated for cata :)
Also, tried the suggestion of DONTREMEMBERWHO putting 3x8 bars and then setting better unitframes. Debuffs on target are positioned intentionally since i left the space for the castbar (unfortunately not on screenshot).

Reso is low since again I'm working on laptop, I'll post a screen when on my pc (1680 reso).
As always, feedback appreciated :)

As always, feedback appreciated :)Do you have a shadow in your combat text? It needs to be gone. MSBT? Shouldn't be to hard to fix.
I'm not sure I like the matching of the fonts or maybe its the outline on your non-pixel font... Something is weird there.
Other then that... I like it.
Edit: New WoWInterface is super sexy.

I can certainly promise you that I am not feeling defensive at all.
I am beyond confident in my ability to work with the WoW Ui.
And, yes, you did ask people to impress you.
That's what a dare is meant to do.
If you want to see something original, step up and do it.
If you can't do that then I suggest you stop complaining about how everyone else's work isn't good enough for you.
It's not a complicated concept.

@Coldkil, it's looking really nice! a few things that I'd change though;
- hiding some of the datatexts, maybe utilizing lynStats or similar for that i.e. have it show fps and time, and on mouseover a tooltip with durability, ms and a more detailed memory usage list. Personally I'd hide the gold text whatsoever since I don't see a point keeping it visible as long as you don't have significantly small gold funds :P
- monochrome outline on combat text, perhaps hide the icons even
- I think that another general font might complement your pixelfont better, but the beauty is in the beholder
- also, I'd hide the keybound buttons, leaving only those that have CDs you need to track or otherwise of greater importance (just as an example,
insane photoshop skills
)
In the end it's all just personal preference though :~

Thanks for fast responses^^
Fixed some of the issues Brokle and others pointed out, and i'll explain some of my choices:
- datatext: i can go and set whatever i prefer, and tooltips are already there, just not shown^^. Gold is there just cause i like to look at that :P
- chat font: I tried various pixel fonts, but i cannot read them in chat, while i can sustain them easily wherever i put them (in fact, i put it everywhere). So i'm using that font just because i find it more readable, any suggestion is appreciated. Anyway i set it now from "OUTLINE" to "THINOUTLINE" so it should be better.
- action bars: I already tried to hide most of the buttons, and leav only CDs, but i cannot manage them since i play with like 4-5 characters toghether of very different levels which change every day^^ (love making alts, i have already used all the 50 char slots in my account XD). Having all buttons and keybinds displayed makes me manage them easier. It can be only a question of habit, though.
- combat text: it's just MSBT, with the pixel font. The outline issue is something I still cannot fix, so I'm calling for help here. Shadowed font is already disabled in the options, i think it's and issue due to text animation, or i need to dig the .lua files and fix some outlines.
next shot is for tomorrow, when i get it to test on a serious pc^^
edit: Fixed MSBT^^ for eveyone wondering to use pixelfonts with it, just go to MSBTAnimations.lua at line 282. Just change the variable value to "OUTLINE, MONOCHROME" - anyway i'm trying to write a better support (adding the monochrome option into the addon option module).

UI
Not really sure how well made it is, I don't know how to fix Tictac so it doesn't overlap, I have the anchor set beside the UF.
I don't really have a visually appealing spot for my stance/forms. But right now I have to fade out 80%.

You could start by using direct-links.

@coldkil, if you're using rActionBarStyler you could add something like this to achieve charspecific stuff, of course with a bit of fiddling with it;
local myname = UnitName("player")
...
if myname = 'Coldkil' then
barY:Hide() barY.Show = function() end end -- barY -
...
if myname = 'Coldkil then
for i=N, 12 do -- hides from N upwards
local button = _G -- or whatever you wish to hide
button:Hide()
button.Show = function() end end

@coldkil: I wasn't arguing against the texts you've chosen to display but how you've chosen to display them. Cutting the word "Armor" down to the letter "D" and cutting out silver and copper.
In fact i'm fixing that^^ it was more for kamii^^.
@kamii: gonna try that solution.
Now I'm working on combopoint, i made a combobar with with the 5 textures, is there a way to make them change alpha instead of appear/disappear? I mean, like a gauge bar (don't know if i explain myself). Probably i need to edit the UpdateCPoints function.
There is no THINOUTLINE.
Unfortunately, it exists.
