Happened last night. Leveling a Horde alt (my main is Alliance) and I am 71. I was so mad because a quest item was DEEP inside a bunch of mobs I had to get through and I kept dying.
My son (who also plays) says "get on your flying mount" I say to him, I cannot fly in Northrend until higher level. He says get on your main, buy the book from the Vendor in Dalaran and mail it to your alt.
It WORKED! I was so dumbstruck. Such a noob move on my part. But on the bright side I can now fly in Northrend.
And I told a few guildies about this, they did not know you could cross-faction mail the book for Cold Weather flying either. So maybe not such a "retarded" moment after all? And to make it worse you can learn it at level 68!
I've never tried it, but I didn't think you could send mail cross-faction at all.

Does it have to be an in-game stupid?
Cuz I tried to stick my seat belt buckle in the ignition today. Pure lack of thought besides, "Something feels off..."
Sitting on my motorcycle outside the store a few days ago, left the keys in the small "hole" between the dashboard and the miniature windscreen. (living in a very small town has it's advantages.)
Without really realizing it, reached into the pocket of my jacket, grabbed what was there, and put it in the ignition. All of a sudden i realize a person walking past me is staring me down, i quickly recap what im doing, as im holding a screwdriver in my hand, seemingly trying to pry open the ignition with it. grab my keys, start it, helmet on, visor down.
I made recordtime home that day. -.-
Ingame-wise, i've been summoned to VoA25 several times, wearing my healing-gear. (switch at bank, tankgear goes right in there when i change sets.)
RL marks me with a star. ppl complain about low hp on tank. /slap myself.
Second i remember: Rotface 10hc. im on add-duty, kiting away. Taunt add, run. taunt add, run through slime. taunt add, run.. run? RUN! for the love of god move!
RL on vent: malyr wth are you doing?
Me: Kiting oozes?
RL: Not in slime!
Me: Yeah, i know that now. -.-
(stacking debuff causing you to move very slow, noticed at 3 stacks, and quickly going up.)
AD saved me, but still, we wiped. And tbh i have wiped raids before that. Sindragosa 10n is a very popular one, before i learned where to run, when to swap tanks, where not to run, and do NOT click HoP instead of the other one, bubblewall, whatever its called.
I am so super sometimes, i scare myself.

Back in early 3.2, my friends and I were dinking around in Ulduar, because we stubbornly wanted to down Algalon. We're on Thorim (though not hard mode, a lot of us had taken a break from raiding, myself included, so we barely knew the fights on normal.) I was tanking the gauntlet on my paladin.
Something went bad in the arena, and they asked me to tank it instead. We had a reasonable attempt, then something went bad in the gauntlet. (I can only assume why. =P) People are starting to make silly mistakes because of the time, but we decide at one more attempt before calling it for the night.
The pull starts, I'm grabbing the mobs, but I'm feeling really clumsy. Is it fatigue? I'm losing threat left and right, even to healers at times. We wipe, and people are like "well that was odd, maybe we can..." and start brainstorming how to make it easier, a rogue buddy thought he messed something up for me.
Then I notice it.
So I just say, "Yeah guys that was my fault, sorry." Of course, everyone tries to console me, saying it was everyone's fault, so I just so "No, it's my fault. Trust me. I forgot a...very important buff." The entire raid facepalms, and we decide we're all a little too tired to continue. (Especially me.)
You guessed it. I forgot Righteous Fury.

My engineer (warrior) went to do a quest or three in Borean Tundra, starting from Valiance Keep. It had been a while since I'd played my warrior, and even though she was level 68 or 69 I was having real problems with the foes. Taking a lot of damage, going through a healing potion each fight and then having to bandage/eat afterward.
I completed three or four quests, and decided to switch to another character. Hearthed back to town, and noticed... oh hey. All the player characters have invisible clothes. It turns out that
Gnomish X-Ray Specs
don't actually have any armor, and I was trying to do quests without a helmet (NPCs are unaffected, and I usually hide my character's helmet).
I'm smrt!

I once took fatal falling damage... while on my flying mount.
Seriously.

It's confusing, right?
I landed on one of the upside-down stalactites in Blade's Edge, and my mount began to drop. I couldn't jump or do anything, and fell to my death. This shame has haunted me for years now!
Thank you Wowhead, for accepting my emotional burdens.
