Read the helpful threads, as well as the FAQ, but did not find the answer to this.
Suppose I have a crit chain and the tank has avoided damage so several Divine Aegis are created. How do they work? Do they all sum up in a single and very strong Divine Aegis? Or does only the stronger Aegis stay and the others fail because "A more powerful spell is already active"?

Here is a nice quote to answer your problem.
Divine Aegis effects will now stack, however the amount absorbed cannot exceed 125*level (of the target). It will also now take into account total healing including overhealing.
BTW if you reach the cap then your target gets a free bubble hearthstone.

Thanks a lot for the answer.

Yes, DA stacks.
At 80, divine aegis can stack up to 10,000.
I also think Elrael's quote answered perfectly.

I stole the quote from Blizzard (3.1 patch notes)
Stealing
Quoting is better then... then... Stealing?
