Well, I'll stop debating now. It's just an endless string of "we don't need to kill them".

You simply have no basis to place animals on the same level as people.
I have no reason to place people on the same level as people. I still do, however (well, most of the time).

Dear Vikey,
Do not get me wrong on this. You seem to be an intelligent person, even at the age of twelve, but some things you will realise later on in life which you can not realise in this stage of your life. I respect your point of view and support you in it, but that video you linked at the beginning of this thread is purely made to indoctrinate people who aren't well-read on the subject. That video is showing footage of years ago, which is almost entirely irrelevant to the current situation due to better regulation and laws.
In the Netherlands, where I live, the situation for consumption animals has drastically improved. For instance, cows do not eat food made of animal remains anymore. The room per cow in stables has been increased, and they have to be outside in a field each day (bar certain situations). The slaughtering - this term isn't really relevant anymore in my opinion - is performed by a certified and trained person by driving a metal pin through the brains which instantly kills the cow without any pain.
Of course, there are still arguments why eating meat is bad. This is where most people stop thinking. I am lucky to live in a village close to a city
and
country-side. I can get superb meat from a local butcher who only sells meat from our region. These animals are outside all day long (in fact, I know where they reside and I go past them every day) and are treated with all respect you could give to an animal. Yes, the price is higher than regular meat but I like the taste better and it gives me a better feeling when eating it.
My brother is vegetarian as well. This means I do not eat meat every day. Do I mind? Not at all. Vegetarian cooking can be very tasty. The problem with vegetarianism is that it's equally difficult to justify certain vegetables. Alas, I do not know the state of import, export and distribution of vegetables in the USA, but in the Netherlands it is really bad, especially in the winter. Increased welfare has led to people wanting to eat, for example, lettuce in January. The supermarket reeks money and imports lettuce from Iran. This process adds so much extra logistic effort that people will not know of. Of course, there is all the extra pollution, but underpaid workers and shady-like business is all included. Eating seasonal food from your own country avoids a lot of this, but limits your choices quite severely.
Organisations such as PETA can really bug me off. Not so much for what they do - animal cruelty sickens me - but
how
they do it. For example their
sea kitten
campaign. Disgusting. They make it attractive for children, add some blind man's reasoning to it and are so pushy with telling people how right they are that I do not feel like listening anymore. Another example: I ordered a poster online. Thrilled when it arrived (it was damn difficult to find) I opened the package and found a flyer of PETA in it, saying I shouldn't eat meat, shouldn't keep pets and all that talk. I decided to send back the poster with a letter explaining I do not wish to have this sort of spam with my film posters.
Basically, respect should be mutual. I respect your vegetarianism, but you should respect my choice to eat meat as well. And that respect is not gained by telling people how they support brutal murder and cruelty by eating meat.

Silly Blademeld, you weren't trying to get through to me at all.
All of you just wanted to diss or contradict my beliefs on vegetarianism and animal rights.
Also, something I've noticed. Everyone has only been throwing punches at my beliefs.
What is so good about eating meat? What makes it better than vegetarianism and such?
Only "good" thing I've seen anyone say about it is "it tastes good and better nomnomnom", which isn't even a good reason, because thats an opinion.
You haven't either, you've only tried to push your beliefs on others.
Which is why everyone has been making punches at your "morals"
Your animal rights are an opinion as well.

Stop saying I'm pushing my opinion. I'm not, I'm expressing and defending it. I'm not screaming"COME A VEGETARIAN AND ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVIST, #$%^&ES!". I would like someone to become one here though.
Those articles gave facts and morals.
Anyone who read them and says otherwise just doesn't want to admit they're wrong.
So saying that whoever doesn't agree with your moral is wrong is not pushing your values?

This debate was over the moment Vikey brought in "morals" and I corrected Procul.
I'm quite informed about animal rights, and all Vikey is doing is beating a dead horse.
