3DG4L1FE, I've come to the conclusion Skreeran is an idiot and that this conversation is pointless to an ignorant, egotistical mind, do you concur?Do you? I've come to similar conclusion: It's pointless to defend my position when it has no impact on how I actually live my life. Whether I do or do not end up killing someone, it doesn't matter if I tell you.

No, not egotistical. Just... not delusional.
Tell me, Skreeran.
Would taking an innocent life make you feel like a man? What do you mean? If you mean would I feel good dominating another being's will and body? Yes. If you mean, "Am I a child who needs others to suffer in order to feel like a man" then no.

Attempt to provoke me as much as you want. It does not affect me, and more importantly, does not affect my plans for life.
Edit: Alright, farewell for now. It;s 3:30 in the morning.

/sigh
Hi guys. I supposed I made something of a fool of myself last night. I had been drinking and have been depressed for months and am only now just coming off of it I think. I don't know if that person is me. I certainly think I could become that person. I don't know if it's likely or if I'm just destined to the same life of anonymous mediocrity that everyone else is. I'm just tired now. I'm not angry for the moment, just tired. I'm still depressed, but at least now I'm not homicidal and depressed.

I'm just gonna go ahead and jump in here with my own reply to the original post, as opposed to wading through the different replies.
,then is there a reason to live by any moral code? Are there even such things as morals? For what purpose? To whom?
If there is no God, and government were to collapse, then do YOU make the law for yourself? Who decides what is right and wrong? Is there such thing as right and wrong? If there is no wrong, and there is no right, then what reason is there to live?
Personally, my life isn't governed (directly) by any celestial/omnipotent/etc. being. No, my life is governed indirectly by one through the legal system in the area in which I live.
Anywhere where such a legal system exists, you have two options: comply and be free of the consequences, or go against the grain and run the risk of being caught, and thereby penalized by the consequences.
Wanting to live as trouble-free an existence as I possibly can, I do what the law tells me to to the best of my abilities. I don't steal, I don't kill nor maim nor otherwise injure (though the rigors of my profession put my self-restraint to the test in this department), and so forth. Granted, there are a few laws where I do believe there
is
such a thing as a victimless crime, so I cast them to the wayside.
If there is no God, and government were to collapse, then do YOU make the law for yourself? Who decides what is right and wrong?
In this case, I suppose the idea of right and wrong would ultimately (and finally) be up to each individual person. However, living in such a lawless state would behoove most people to act with far more caution and restraint than a lawful one, as without the protection of the legal system and law enforcement personnel, you're on your own.
Is there such thing as right and wrong?
Absolutely, but I believe that the concepts of right and wrong, however they may be defined by the state, are still ultimately subjective. To bring something controversial (into an already controversial topic), PeTA is under the impression that euthanizing animals that cannot/will not be adopted is right. Not only do I think this is
wrong
, but I think that it's the most retarded idea ever. I could go deeper into this subject, but it's an entirely different topic altogether.
If there is no wrong, and there is no right, then what reason is there to live?
As covered above, the concepts of right and wrong
do
exist. And even if they didn't, I don't see how that would make life not worth living. As far as I'm concerned, if I enjoy life, with or without the label of "right" or "wrong", it's worth living.

in several decades, less than a cenruty, people will think that these questions were childish.
if there is no god, nothing changes for me because my moral is not the one kids get from the parents.
just check the words good and bad - isn't that what parents made up? and isn't god parent to
grown ups

My thoughts on this matter (pardon if this has been said, i don't feel like wading thru 20 pages of posts atm) is that individuals always have and always will make their own morals. Somebody somewhere thought their morals were right and had the power to back those up, and that's what we have today. My thought is that there will be some who go crazy and go killing and looting everything in sight. There are also those who will do what is right, whether because they fear divine retribution or because they just want to do what is right is beside the point. The only difference between now and a complete collapse of civilization would be that the lines between "good" and "bad" people would become more defined.
Without something/one to enforce rules or a set of laws, people would just show their true colors. That is my opion, my apologies for a wall of text.

Im Agnostic. Im open to religion, but im not convinced by it. Yes, physical evidence of Jesus. Also physical evidence he was nothing but a homeless street preacher. Yes Evidence of Noah's ark. But a Spanish Folk story 3000 years before told the exact same thing. And why is The Vadican hiding those chapters from the bible? Obviously something brought on about Jesus or God not being as good as supposed to be.
