...But as soon as someone starts "offering" me a religion, I get very annoyed, as it kinda "violates" my "everyone can believe in whatever they want"-opinion. :o
If someone is genuinely offering to share their religion with you, I doubt it stems from negative motivations. Even when my non-denominational Christian friends would invite me to their churches so I could confess the name of Jesus and prevent burning in Hell...
they really did believe I would burn in Hell if I didn't and wanted to at least make sure I had been given a chance.
In a completely offensive way, they were showing they cared. ;-)
The only times I've actually offered to share my religious beliefs were when I thought the other person really wanted to know what I believed or if I thought my beliefs would be of interest to them.
Shoving
religious beliefs at someone, however, is an entirely different matter.

Evolution and religion are both based on faith. There is no point in even attempting to argue which one is true and which one isn't, neither are truly provable.
Thank you.
I don't think, in the 9 years I have had access to the internet, I have ever read something so unbelievably stupid. And yes sir, I have been to 4chan.
Does evidence not entail proof? I would ask you both to take a walk down to your nearest natural history museum and see for yourself the mountains of evidence supporting evolution.
Then read a bible, and ask yourself "does that single book contain more evidence for its claims than that of Science?".
I have a feeling I know what your answer will be, as with so many other Chrisians. But, hey, it's worth a shot.
QFT. Comparing a dusty old tome to years and years and years of research is insulting. When people start making those comparisons, it justifies calling followers of religions ignorant !@#$ing morons. You don't get to say that evolution isn't proved, the facts of evolution are there and if you want to try to refute them, do some research or shut your mouth.

Humans evolved from Pirates, and that's the only truth I'm accepting.

Evolution is a &*!@ing fact.
Now, the theory of evolution, that all life originated from a basic single celled organism, isn't necessarily proved, but its reasonable enough considering that we know for a fact that evolution occurs. Trying to argue against evolution is like arguing against gravity.

Two different things. Evolution, as in natural selection, survival of the fittest, etc. etc. are observable facts, and given a long enough time period you could replicate them yourself in a lab.
Now, the theory of evolution, that all life originated from a single celled, is just a theory to explain how you could start with only one organism that is self-replicating and eventually end up with all life on the planet...
its usually paired up with abiogenesis to explain the origin of life on earth.

Lulz. I believe in evolution, but both of your posts are so ignorant that it's ridiculous.
Nothing
in science is 100% and if you believe it is, then you are just as full of fail as those who believe the literal translations from religion.
I find this rather ironic, tbh. You are doing the exact same thing that religious people do by trying to impose your view on the topic which is the very thing you despise about it because you think it's incorrect.
That evidence that they use in evolution is only educated guesses based on assumptions and repeated tests. Just because it "supports" the theory doesn't make the theory factual. It still just remains a
theory
. They
speculate
that this is the truth because it seems the
most
relevant to their findings and need more contradictory evidence to disprove it. It is a proposal and nothing more; it is no more factual than religion and to think it is would make you seem highly oblivious to how science really functions. One of the reasons that it is not fully factual is because there are still so many huge gaps between chains that have yet to be identified.
I generally follow the same views as you with evolution but the only reason I'm nagging on you both for this post is because you called them out for having unbelievably stupid posts when yours were just as bad.
Fun fact: Theory = Something really close to fact, by your logic the Pythagorean theorem could be wrong? (note that it's called theorem not law).

In formal mathematical logic, the concept of a theorem may be taken to mean a formula that can be derived according to the derivation rules of a fixed formal system.
Theorems in mathematics and theories in science are fundamentally different in their epistemology. A scientific theory cannot be proven; its key attribute is that it is falsifiable, that is, it makes predictions about the natural world that are testable by experiments. Any disagreement between prediction and experiment demonstrates the incorrectness of the scientific theory, or at least limits its accuracy or domain of validity. Mathematical theorems, on the other hand, are purely abstract formal statements: the proof of a theorem cannot involve experiments or other empirical evidence in the same way such evidence is used to support scientific theories.
Ok, I was wrong, but still,The word theory in science is not the same as theory in everyday language.
