I thought the Holocaust was due to the fact that Hitler needed a scapegoat, not his delusions.
In the Christian view, I don't believe that there's anything wrong with telling people that they are going to hell, after all, that's the truth as defined in the bible, rather it's the intentions that the people have when they say it, like others have said.
When you're spreading the gospel, you shouldn't make the other person feel uncomfortable, that goes against the "good" part of "good news".
Believe it or not, Christianity requires you to stop being an &*!@#$%.

Hitler's hate for Jews doesn't necessarily have a clear reason, although that is another reason, but even before Hitler, Jews had been discriminated against anyways, so when Germany was in it's downfall, and not wanting to blame their own stupidity in thinking they deserved land that they didn't, blame the Jews! All the cool kids were doing it, after all.
Correct me if I'm wrong, people.

The religious discussion was supposed to stay in the other thread. >.<
In the Christian religion there are priests and there are prophets. Priests are supposed to give comfort to the disturbed. Prophets are supposed to disturb the comfortable. Jesus was supposed to be both. :)

Honestly people, just like there are Christians who stand at street corners creaming at people
Also, anyone who says that you're going to hell (
EVER
) is going against what Jesus said and judging you.
This statement doesn't make sense to me. How is telling someone that if they don't believe in Jesus, they are doomed to hell for their sins, judging them? It's the truth, and we're letting them know what
will
happen. Jesus died for the sins of the world, so that those that believe in him will be saved; their dept paid in full. Isn't it our duty as Christians to let people know about this good news?
You are wrong.

Because you are saying that you know, before there is any word to a mortal, what will happen to them after they die.
You're judging their life by your standards.
THAT is why it goes against what Jesus said.
" 16Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18Then Jesus came to them and said, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."
(
Matthew 28, versus 16-20
)
Jesus specifically told us what we are to do; spread His words and His teachings. What happens to people when they don't believe in Jesus is an unfortunate message that must be delivered. The Bible says that "the wages of sin is death." God doesn't want to send people to hell. But ever since Adam and Eve ate the apple of the knowledge of good and evil, humanity has been sinning ever since. To counter this, people had to offer the sacrifices of perfect lambs to God, to pay for their sins. They also had to get prophets to pray extensively for them.
God sent Jesus to be the ultimate lamb. He was perfect, and committed no sin. However, the religious leaders of that time found that unbearable, and had Him put to death. When He did
nothing
wrong. He was flogged by the cat of nine tails (a vicious whip), and spat on (which was a bigger insult back then then it is now). They crowned Him with a crown of thorns on His already bruised head. He was forced to carry His own cross to Golgotha, which was insanely heavy. On the cross, He took all the sins of the world onto Himself, and died. As soon as He died the curtain of the temple, which symbolizes the division that we had with God tore in two.
Three days later, He rose again.

Huh? In the New Testament, Jesus talked more about hell than He did about heaven. Have you even read the Bible? Ever?

Any god that would condemn a person to an eternity of suffering is not a god I would want to follow.
And based on many other reasons (many of which are personal, others are logical), I have come to the conclusion that there is no god and that the universe is utterly devoid of worth.
Edit: And saying "What the Bible says is true because it says so in the Bible" is not a good argument.

...wow....ok....wow...First of all, you can't seriously believe that an apple give them sort of knowledge, right? You can at least say that is a metaphor of some sort?

When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye.
It's not referenced as an apple in the bible, rather the apple is either an outdated translation or a metaphor outside of the bible.
Either way, it's referenced as the "fruit of tree of knowledge."

Not to mention the fact that "because the Bible says so" is a lame excuse.

Because a scientific journal provides proof and sound logic. I am Muslim, but I refuse to believe some of tales that are being told (because of misinterpretation etc.). And that tree thing sounds highly metaphorical.

Because a scientific journal provides proof and sound logic.
And judging that it is indeed proof and logic is to your own interpretation.
Logic:
log⋅ic
/ˈlɒdʒɪk/ Show Spelled Show IPA
–noun
1.the science that investigates the principles governing correct or reliable inference.
2.
a particular method of reasoning or argumentation
: We were unable to follow his logic.
3.the system or principles of reasoning applicable to any branch of knowledge or study.
4.
reason or sound judgment, as in utterances or actions
: There wasn't much logic in her move.
5.convincing forcefulness; inexorable truth or persuasiveness: the irresistible logic of the facts.
You can't prove that the world is not lying to you for the fun of it.

Another part about it is that science is always changing and that nothing is concrete. It was science that induced lobotomy for headaches in the past, but that's no longer the case. Science can be proven wrong, it isn't absolute.
Who knows, maybe in the future we'll discover that the core of the earth is actually made of cotton candy, after all, they say gravity is too weak in comparison with the other forced. What makes sense now and what makes sense later are different things.

Yes, our sense maybe "lying to us" but that doesn't mean anything. Even if we are forced, we work with what we have to better ourselves, and for now, science will have to do.

The thing is...
1. Science fits together. It rarely contradicts itself except in the farthest most theoretical regions. It fits with our observations of the universe. (Mutations over many generations can cause phenotypical changes.) Religion for the most part, does not. (Fruits do not contain knowlege. Water does not spontaneously become blood. Armies of Assryians do not die with no apparent cause.)
2. Religion does claim to be absolute. Thus, it is proven wrong when there is a contradiction. (There cannot be an omnicient, omnipotent, omnibenevolent being that would intentionally cause suffering.)
3. There are thousands of religions. Statistically, if only one can be right, an overwhelming percentage of them are wrong. If people can believe a wrong faith just as much as they believe a "right" one, who is to say that any are right?

Even if we are forced, we work with what we have to better ourselves, and for now, science will have to do.
Or religious text or a new set of logic that you define for yourself.
My logic, much like my morals, are my own, even if you think your morals and logic are more correct, you can't force it on another person.
Your logic, is simply how you define what makes the most sense to you.

Science fits together, under your judgements, doesn't mean it makes sense for everyone else.
"our observation" who is "our" refering to? You and the scientific community or the entire world?
If science does rarely contradict itself, we would have gotten nowhere, we'd still think that the world is flat. The beauty of science is that it does contradict.
2. (There cannot be an omnicient, omnipotent, omnibenevolent being that would intentionally cause suffering.)
I find that "God is above our logic" doesn't contradict with the above, but to counter this, there are religions where God is not all-powerful. Take Greek Mythology for example.
3. If people can believe a wrong faith just as much as they believe a "right" one, who is to say that any are right?
My point exactly, who is to say that science is right in the end?
