No doubt, and I never said that choosing the sacrifice was a good decision. All I am pointing out is that calling cancer a 'useful part of curbing human population growth' is very callous and cold.

If you could rid the world of cancer in an instant, but in the same instant, you, all your family, and everyone you love would die, would you?
If the deaths are instant and painless, and everyone except for the one making the decision doesn't even know about it, then... maybe. Could you at least come up with a situation where a decision like this could be made? It seems extremely far-fetched.

And further attempt to remove mankind from the cycle of life-and-death? Like that other dude said?
No thanks. Cancer, diseases, war, and all that other bullsh*t is part of being human. Humans should learn that dying is part of god-damn life. If everybody in this world were to live without fear of war or cancer (or other bullcrap)? Earth would shortly be over-populated, forests would disappear, animals would go extinct, diseases BESIDES cancer would run bloody rampant, etc. etc.
Yes. I seem cold in this post. I just happen to apply some confounded logic.

This sounds reasonable to me. We should stop all medical services now, before more animals die!

The strong survive, and the weak die. That's the way it goes, regardless if it's callous, and cold.
This truth is far from saying that cancer shouldn't be cured because of its "usefullness".

Everyone has their own opinion, and I respect that. I just personally believe that the strong survive, and the weak die, but you're entitled to your own opinion.
/sigh
Listen. I'm agreeing with you. I'm just saying that what you are saying is NOT the same thing as calling cancer 'useful'.

QFT, very dangerous ppl hold options such as these, some realistic ones too.
Most mainly those who dont hold life in high respect.
For me no, cause ppl dont deserve it on a whole, and there is a large chance imo that i wont have another life, so I'm not throwing it away for the sake of the greediest most destructive species to exist on this earth a little longer.
EDIT: wow that was deep..even for me Oo

so eliminate the word useful. "cancer is a part of curbing human population growth"
without it, the same number of people will suffer and die from other reasons because of the increased population by the time the 3rd or so generations are born.

Why not turn the question aroudn? Would I sacrifice the most of the world's population for me and my loved ones' healthy lives?
Yes.

Wow. Thanks Ivokk.
I actually
agree
with most of the first post, except for: You're just being a #$%^&* by once again dehumanizing everyone... way to go, you're just an ass.
I'd just like to say that people were doing it to themselves... take a look...No, cancer is a very useful part of curbing human population growth. You could use that arguement to justify everything from... genoside to... i dunno... medical malpractice. I mean... it's just not the response I was looking for. Like, if I has said: So, if you could stop all genoside in the world, but you had to sacrifice something, would you?... and then someone was like "No, I think genoside is a good thing." Not really the response I was expecting, is all.
Your second post is just a personal attack, except for the last line. I agree with that particular line whole heartedly:You're a smart guy but you're no genius, and neither am I... you're also not always correct and the morality of your actions is only defined by you.Sounds a lot like something I would say. Sounds like your preaching personal responsibility... a truely Christian value.

And yes, I was angry that you would push your own views as the only moral way to go about anything. You knew exactly what these people meant and all you were doing was picking at their arguments. I'm sorry about the attack, without my meds I'm pretty irritable.Apology accepted.
Now, perhaps you can point out where I was pushing morals? Was it when I used the word 'cold' in reference to the phrase that "cancer is a useful tool" statement? You could call me critical, yes. But, was I really pushing my morals around? Did I say they are all going to hell or something off the wall and preachy? I thought I was doing a good job of moderating myself until you came and throat punched me. Is that really that bad?
