If you can source some information with that I'll change it.
I noticed a DPS increase when I personally switched from 51/13/7 to 51/7/13.

From my own recounts, and other anecdotal data. The 51/7/13 spec was 'helped' by a bug in Aldriana's spreadsheet miscalculating Rupture Damage. You will probably see a minor DPS increase as many switch to it once they get the 4pc T8. This set bonus itself is a 400dps increase (ish).
I understand where you're coming from, but I couldn't just up and change it without solid figures. I respect the advice you give on the forums, Iteken, it's good advice at that.
But if I were to change it and it was questioned, my answer would be 'Because Iteken's recount says so', that isn't enough for me to just change it.
I'm afraid in work, I can't acess the EJ website, as it's catogorized as 'Blogs and Forums', anything that's in the catogory is blocked from my browser.

Wrong. Since they put instant poison on a PPM basis, rather than a fixed percentage, the
PPM value
of instant poison is increased by 50% with 5/5 improved poisons,
NOT percentage
. The exact PPM numbers escape me for the moment.

Hi All,
So I'm a combat swords rogue with about a 2300 wow-heroes gear score, which really isn't all that high considering the availability of emblems with 3.2. It will be climbing in the next week for sure.
I use a slightly modified build (
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#f0eb0xxZMgVo0cxqru0xRt:Nfh
) from the cookie-cutter combat swords build (
http://www.wowhead.com/?talent#f0eb0xZMgVo0cxqru0xRtx:Nfh
) where I take improved poisons over relentless strikes and use instant poison instead of wound poison. With the last patch (3.1.7?), they changed improved poisons to increase the proc rate of instant poison from 2% per point to 10% per point, so my instant poison proc rate is at 70%. Immediately upon switching I saw a SIGNIFICANT dps increase...in the order of 600-700 dps.
Obviously this build favors the stand-and-burn fight over the movement fight, so it may not be as viable in Ulduar or ToGC, but I often find myself out-dpsing the cookie-cutter build and I was wondering if anyone has seriously looked into the math behind the difference.
One thing that was suggested to me is that I have an excellent rotation and use my cooldowns very effectively, and that probably plays more into my dps than most things, but everyone is always so shocked when I defend my build...and then more shocked when I beat them in the dps charts at 5-6K and they're in full Uld gear.
Yuriah - Rogue - Cenarion Circle
Simple.
You're obviously out-dpsing cookie cutter builds due to the fact that improved poisons talent is a raw damage and frequency talent.
Relentless strikes is a situational energy gain,
Personally I've tried both builds, whilst doing more raw damage with Imp Poisons, I felt energy starved half the time.
As KidB mentioned, though, if you want napkin math done on it then you'd need to post something on EJ.
For the record, I normally outdamage rogues who are in T8 full Conq, while I'm sat with the lesser gear and half Val/Conq, I keep a pretty good gap between us.
While you might feel its outdamaging the cookie cutter build, it might just be that you're outdamaging rogues with inferior hand eye co-ordination to you.

No probs. I'm bored, it's friday afternoon - i'll dig it all up for you.
Bear in mind these are all from one source, however it's a prttey well respected source.

That one bug, for the record, is that Rupture damage boosts are additive rather than multiplicative.
http://elitistjerks.com/f78/t37183-pocket_guide_wotlk_updated_3_1_a/p48/#post1337225
The bug was whether rupture bonuses apply additively or multiplicatively. My sheet erroneously has them as multiplicative, when they're supposed to be additive.

Yes. Though that spec is currently felt to be somewhat inferior - it was a glitch in the way rupture damage was calculated in my spreadsheet that made it competitive, and with that glitch corrected it's still a decent spec but somewhat behind the more usual 51/13/7 build.
There are a few other places he discovers it.
ps. they block EJ, but not WoWhead? Epic Fail :)
Speaking of fail: Remember to keep an eye on your Meta Gem Requirements. I wondered why that mage / Fury / Feral were keeping up with me :/
Right cool, atleast this info is here.
Changing it as we speak.
Yea, they block EJ but because this isn't a full pledged forum site, they don't block it.

Hi Bagwell,
I'm not a huge PvPer but if you can suggest some builds i can review and add them in ^^.
Looking for someone whos done extensive 'Tricks Trading' in raids with another rogue for a litte guide to when its best to doit and how to maximize dps.
Anyone interested? I'll give you the credit ofc.
(Maybe Iteken? ;p Or KidB?)
Personally I'd like to read this aswell as I've been too busy at work to even play and raid much ;[.

Trade tricks when you are about to burst, it'll be most efficient.
Example - XT hardmode, pop Tricks just before you are about to start DPSing the heart (usually, this is where you blow all of your cooldowns).
Another example is to ToTT just before Killing Spree, so while it's active, the effect of ToTT is up.
These are not the
only
times when you should use ToTT of course, but these are the most optimal uses of it.

Also, addon such as Trick or Treat will give you details onto how effective your ToTT was, so it's a great tool for min-maxing.
