Patch 3.2 - New emblem system

For those folks who say that gear should be earned, and the only way for new people to gear up is to raid,.I say this. What did you do when WotLK came out? When Greens from quests essentially were more powerful than TBC raid gear? Where were your cries then? This is essentially the same thing people.
What are you talking about? You are comparing apples and oranges. The level cap got raised. Your argument is null and void. And why would people cry about gearing up "while leveling". You make no sense here. BUT - I do know from your previous posts that you normally do make sense, so I'm guessing this is just an emotional reaction vs a well thought out post.
I meant that the folks that were running Sunwell and BT were first appalled that they would even give quest gear that has similar stats to raid gear on the leveling grind from 70-80. Each new expansion sort of resets all gear, makes all of the old gear obsolete. Patch 3.2 isn't an expansion release, but think of it as a mini expansion if you will. Essentially all gear will get reset, and fresh 80's don't need to go through the raid progression path to get to the new raids.
Maybe it is a bit emotional, I think the old system was flawed. Developers spend months and months working on new content and only 10% of the population ever get to see it. It's MUCH better now, Ulduar is packed with difficulty levels for all kinds of players. You have the casuals, the mid tier raiders, hardcore raiders, and the elite. With the achievement and tracking systems, there's plenty to brag about to your fellow players.

Getting rid of heroism and valor badges was probably a good idea, but now how will fresh 80's gear up with Tier 7 and Tier 7.5? Why would anyone convert their Conquest emblems down to Valor or Heroism?
I can answer both questions at once:
Emblem of Conquest: T8.5 Helm/Chest
Emblem of Valor: T7.5 Shoulders/Legs
Emblem of Heroism: T7 Gloves
Trade down your Emblems to get the other pieces of tier.

They will still be useful.
Jewelcrafting
* Dragon's Eye gems stat bonuses increased.
* New recipes have been added for cutting epic gems and can be purchased using Dalaran Jewelcrafter's tokens.
* Icy Prism now has a chance of yielding an epic gem.
* Raw epic gems can be obtained via the following means:
Prospecting Titanium Ore
Alchemy transmutations
Purchased with Honor
Purchased with Emblems of Heroism

No, YJMark, if you're making that analogy, what they're doing is letting players level up without having to do specific raid instances. And that is how the game currently is. The opposition to this is basically saying that you should make level 70 dungeons easier, but you still need to clear them all before being able to level to 80, which is just silly because how are those level 70s going to hit 80 if there aren't enough people interested in doing those dungeons? That is the opposite of progression.

I know that when people find themselves in the wrong after an argument, they don't like to admit it.
I'm not arguing with you anymore, you're just arguing to argue with me.

Btw, this is not the equivalent. Skipping through Naxx and Ulduar is like skipping from level 10 to 80. You take the first 10 levels to get a basic understanding of your class (which would be heroics) and then jump straight to 80 with all of your skills and spells. That would be the equivalent. You end up lacking the experience.
That right there, is the opposite of progression.
Lol, most of us were talking about 70 raids, leveling from 70 to 80, then the equivalent level 80 raids. How are you comparing this to leveling from level TEN to level 80? And it takes more than just 10 levels to get a basic understanding of your class. For warriors at least, you don't even get your last stance till level 30.
I'd have to also disagree with the 2nd part. My wife recently just hit 80 and went straight into Naxx with her guild. No previous raid experience at all, and she did fine. By some folk's mentality about progression, would she have to run MC/Onyxia/BWL/AQ, etc, then run Kara/Gruul's/Mag's/BT/Sunwell, and THEN finally be able to run Naxx/Ulduar before she knew what she was doing? Would she have to get this "experience" you're talking about before even stepping foot in her first raid? I don't think so.

Image 1000 ppl waiting to go into heroics and raids and are unable to and everyone spam and QQ. Nice one blizzard.
That's something one of my friends pointed out. I think Blizz had a post somewhere where they said they are improving the instance servers or something like that. Just add more hardware and they should be able to accommodate the extra number of Heroics being run.

My concern in this in incidental. I do recruitment for my guild and until recently you could look at a potential applicant's gear and have some sort of an idea of what content they had run for a decent amount of time to build a set. Now, I'm not saying just because they saw content they automatically have skill, but it did mean they at least had the experience and could potentially be good. Now seeing how even absolutely horrible people have at the very least a combination of 7.5+8+8.5 gear (VoA+stupidly easy 75% of Ulduar+badges) it becomes really hard to separate who you might want to trial and who is just a total pathetic waste of a raid spot. With the accelerated pace that people are getting fully epicced after dinging 80 we will be seeing an influx of really inexperienced people in higher tiers of raiding.
I always thought the whole point of having heroic--->10man raid--->25man raid progression was so that people could gradually attain things and learn to play their toons through different tiers of content. Now it's just straight from dinging 80 to being carried in 25man upper tier raids. Why not just equip every new 80 toon with a starter set of 25 man epics then? I think that's what Blizzard is trying to achieve with these changes.
Also, I find it sort of sad that Blizzard are having people basically skip a major chunk of the game to get to the newest raid asap. These days new players do not really get to enjoy vanilla+TBC+most of wotlk at a good pace. It's all a big race to hit 80 and have the same gear as everyone else standing around Dalaran. It's rather sad that Blizz does it to their own game that they spent years designing.
