Well, they managed to disrupt Time, make Nozdormu throw back 3 adventurers, corrupted Neltharion enough to make the Dragon Demon Soul, helped open a portal up to Sargeras, and are currently plotting to use the Naga and Azshara against Azeroth.
I agree with everything there but the Sargeras part, but that's just because I'm an avid believer that the Highbourne were royal d**ks and they summoned the Legion all on their own, my opinion, no one elses.

Well, just to say that they did not want to summon the Legion as they knew Sargeras would wipe out their world without mercy or remorse. Dath'Remar Sunstrider was the leader of the Highborne that left because they did not want the Legion to enter Azeroth.
They
stumbled
upon the Legion. Sargeras fealt the rift opened by the portal of the Highborne, and he looked through it and corrupted Xavius, then Azshara, then began on few of the Highborne, who listened (or more like feared) Xavius and opened the portal as much as they could.

Actually, Aszhara was convinced that once Sargeras walked through the portal she was going to be his consort and unfortenately, most of the Highbourne followed their queen, believing she knew what was best for them on a whole. And I know they stumbled on the Legion, of course they were testing the magic trying to make it more powerful for themselves so that they could ensure they were always going to be the true ruler of the Night Elf nation.
The Highborne (aka Highborn — quel'dorei meaning "children of noble birth" in Darnassian and "high elves"in Thalassian) were the upper classes of the Kaldorei civilization and the favored servitors of Queen Azshara.
They didn't care about the lesser Night Elves, believeing that when the Legion came to conquer the world they would be made into high ranking members of the Legion army, which was true, as a large portion of the male Highborne were turned into Satyrs by both Sargeras and then Xavius, who was already a corrupt soul long before the Lord of the Legion got a hold of him.

He was an exception of the Highborne caste, not the rule.

Yes, Azshara wanted to become the consort of Sargeras and believed herself "betrothed" to him, but a large percentile of the Highborne didn't want this. They did it because they knew if they didn't do it, they would be killed or worse, starved then tortured by either Xavius, Mannoroth, or Sargeras himself.
A large portion was
not
turned into Satyrs. There were a few that turned. Many, lead by Dath'Remar, refused the "honor" and later fled the city to join up with the Kaldorei Resistance during the Sundering. Xavius turned a few, I believe it numbered in the hundreds though.
Xavius was corrupted before Sargeras got to him, but he was corrupted in different ways when Sargeras spoke to him. Xavius then wanted to serve Sargeras to end, which he ultimately did, becoming the first Satyr.

Awesome example, Argent. ;)
I refuse to believe that the Old Gods are just mundane creatures of Azeroth.
As an avid Lovecraft fan, I say that they are beyond our tiny mortal comprehesion.
Well, they managed to disrupt Time, make Nozdormu throw back 3 adventurers, corrupted Neltharion enough to make the
Dragon
Demon Soul, helped open a portal up to Sargeras, and are currently plotting to use the Naga and Azshara against Azeroth.
EDIT:
They are also (probably) behind the Nightmare that is taking over the Emerald Dream, and are close to finally being rid of the cause of their downfall: Malfurion Stormrage.
They've got skills. That's all I can say.Right, but I won't settle for "very, very, very powerful mundane Azeroth creature."
I refuse to believe that they can be understood.
I keep up hope that they will live up to the beings they were named after.

Heh, he stopped them from using the Legion portal, but I'm betting if you plunked down good ole Stormrage and a Titan side by side, the slimey creatures will go their jailor's first before they eat the soul of the Night Elf.
Myself, I hope they go with the Darkshore Old God being the one behind the corruption of the Nightmare, doing like C'thun and trying to regain his actual life after having a Titan sword stuck in his.....well Im not sure if that shell thing is his head, leg, elbow or something else, but I would be cranky after having something like that sticking me from almost the begining of Azeroth re-creation.

Haha, agreed. That'd make me just a
bit
@#$%ed off.

If it specifically states the five Old Gods were chained
far beneath the surface of the world
, can the creature in Darkshore even be one of the five? It's neither chained nor underground.
(Although one could argue neither C'thun nor Yogg-Saron were really all
that
far beneath the surface.)

What
states that? War of the Ancients says three, an In-Game book says 4, a Manual says 5, which is to be believed? They were all run by Chris Metzan before they were published, so none of them could be wrong, but which one is actually
right
?
Who knows, maybe the one in Darkshore's
body
is the only thing above ground? Maybe the actual spirit and mind of the creature is elsewhere?

Titan sword stuck in his.....well Im not sure if that shell thing is his head, leg, elbow or something else,
I stand by my statement there, we know the sword is keeping the thing "dead", and technically you dont see everything of C'thun or Yogg. In Yogg's case his body stretched through out Northrend, and we just see the mouth thing sticking out of chamber in Ulduar.

That thing seen in Darkshore, knowing Blizzard, is probably the Old Gods
hair
or something.
Yogg's body stretched across Northrend? I find this weird because from what I know, Ulduar is floating off the body of Storm Peaks...

It connects at some point to the ground, otherwise how would Yogg get the Saronite, his black blood or whatever, out into the world? If you notice, we keep moving downwards when were going for Yogg's chamber.

I haven't done Yogg yet, sadly =(

Heh, if you look at the Ulduar maps (either atlas, wowsite whichever) you'll notice to go to the prison chamber you move downwards. I've only seen the video kills of Yogg, my guild isn't prepared for it yet heh. Don't forget, Blizz likes to be semi-lazy and not show everything lol, so yeah we go up to Ulduar, but at some point it has to reach the ground, cause again, the Saronite is suppose to be Yogg's creation thing.

First, the gap between the main part of Northrend and Ulduar isn't all that deep. The bottom is at sea level. So if Yogg-Saron is chained deep, it won't be a problem.

Correct me if I am wrong but when it states the Titans chained th five Old Gods deep beneath the ground, can we assume that C'thun was assumed dead and the one in Darkshore was also dead?
So therefore can we assume that there is atleast seven Old Gods, or is my thinking just figured wrong?
Post by
ArgentSun
Or 6, if the Titans counted the one in Darkshore as not-exactly dead.
That's what I was thinking too.

not that important of a fact but
Titan sword stuck in his.....well Im not sure if that shell thing is his head, leg, elbow or something else,
I might be overexagerating in the old god's size but I always though the part you fight is no more than say a lock of hair to them. Correct me if I'm wrong
If you read one of my Posts, I say that that sword is stabbed into, what I had guess, a strand of their hair or one of their tentacles (All the Old Gods
have
to have tentacles, aye? =P)
Or 6, if the Titans counted the one in Darkshore as not-exactly dead.
That's what I was thinking too.
Just something... Wouldn't the Titans know if it was dead or not? Like really, they chained them below Azeroth, wouldn't they know if they had killed it, and not just stabbed a piece of their hair or something, and they are still beneath, plotting their revenge?

Even the Titans cannot comprehend the Old Gods, for they are beings restricted to Euclidean space.
