How would YOU improve the Randomness Forum?

It's not the people, it's, as I said, the perception people have of the Randomness forums. They need to change. Re-naming could aleviate this issue. We aren't saying a re-name is the be-all, end-all solution, but the name should sum up what is to be posted here. Many things can be defined as "Randomness".

Zaputo- You make good points. It might not work, I will admit that. Would you see any problem in trying it out? I mean, nothing that a randomness mod could do couldn't be reversed.
In fact, I expect a few problems, but no system is perfect. I think it is worth giving a shot.

Naming is important for forums. You wouldn't go into the Mage forums and ask questions about a Rogue would you? The name of the forum dictates what types of threads that forum contains. By having the name Randomness, many people associate that with being totally random. Us regulars know that isn't the case, but that's what non-regulars perceive.
And yes Patty, it wouldn't be a be-all end-all, but it could be a start. And that's what I think some people might not be seeing. I'm pretty sure that we're eye-to-eye with that.
You do realise you just changed the wording ever so slightly on what I said, right?

I wasn't even replying to you, but it's good to see we agree. It was in response to MyTie's post about renaming it being all but futile.

One change that I think might be a useful one, while not being solely beneficial to Randomness only, would be something along the lines of like user messaging or somewhat.
I've pushed for a PM system since the forums sprouted. It's considered lower priority, which is why you don't see it here yet...
I think that mods and such shouldn't be in with that, mainly because there is an actual email address for them already available.
The only people with access to an email address are the admins.

After you misinterpreted.
This might turn into an argument of some sort though, so let's just leave it. ;)
Just the phrasing seemed like you were arguing against me, that's all.

My suggestions for Randomness now that I've quit WoW is the following idea:
I have a suggestion that combines user authority with the concept of an entire user based moderation crew.
Make an extension to the reporting system that is for the randomness forum alone.
If someone deems a topic a rule breaker or anything along those lines they can report said topic.
But this is where it gets different, instead of a mod coming in and looking at it, if enough users deem the topic to be bad, like for instance there are 200 viewers of a topic. If 150 of them (3/4ths) report it, it locks itself because majority says its bad. Now of course there are flaws to this system like a conspiracy to take down a specific topic. To combat that they should all have to be different IP addresses. And to reduce the workload of the mods but not eliminate it completely, the mods should check the list of locked topics once a day to make sure the system is in working order.
My two cents.

I would rename it, as previously suggested, since it would be a good start, and that's what we'd need.
