I once heard that if a biological system reaches equilibrium, said biological system (if it's an organism) is actually dead. What do you think?

Do you believe the world will end in December 2012? Why or why not?
I haven't seen evidence to make the end of the world any more or less likely in December of 2012 than of any other month.

As I recall, it was the sum of all the processes the biological system could do (like respiration).

If a biological process has exhausted its sum, then it will end. That makes sense. I don't know if I would call that an equilibrium though.

Here's a question for you. After spending so much time here, and living in today's world as an intellectual, how much faith do you have in humanity? Feel free to rate it on a scale of 1-10.

Faith in humanity? That's a question that changes meaning drastically depending on the perspective of the asker. I'll try to reword the question a few times, and answer those questions.
If I were to die for humanity, do I believe that humanity would either appreciate or remember me?
No. I believe my death would bring no appreciation or recognition. The results might make it a worthy venture, but there are no noble works by which I could get recognized for, no matter what the costs are for me. It is for this reason that I am not in the miltiary anymore. The cause for which I would die for would be thown away without a second thought by the coming generations, and my grave would be spit on.
Do I trust humans?
No. I don't fear them, because humans are largely powerless. But, I do recognize thier ability to bring me pain, and their willingness to do so.
Do I think humanity will improve itself?
I believe it will change. Some of these changes will be for the better, and some will not. An overall improvement has yet to be seen.
To sum up: Humanity makes me sad on a regular basis through thier actions and even more so by their justifications of those actions. I can only hope someday, society will look back with as much disgust as I have, but I don't think that will happen.

That definitely answers it. Thanks for taking the time to give that answer.

How are the mountians?
The mountains are spectacular! I've become unemployed, AGAIN. I was let go from my job, not because of lack of effort on my part. I just didn't have what it took to do the job.
Now, I've got more time to spend with my family. I've been doing a lot of cooking, entertaining, and home improvements, and I should probably mention a lot of cleaning. My son has been potty training, which is almost complete, and learning his alphabet. He is great at character recognition, but bad at order. He knows all of his numbers up to 5... 1,3,5,4,2.
The horses are doing well. I'm going to be fixing my fences and buying a milk cow with my tax money. I've found a nice dairy to buy it from. There is a sweet family with 120 jersey cows there.
I now spend my days caring for my family. However, I might be getting a job offer from the same people I worked for before, this time in a new position. They decided I had just the right skills in another place, and they were impressed with my professionalism, believe it or not.
Thanks for asking. You all are welcome to come see the farm for yourself, if you'd like!
