Anrein suddenly felt a hook wrap around him, spinning his head back to see a massive gargoyle carrying an abomination. The abomination yanked him back, pulling him violently off of the phoenix and to the scourge.

Alexxa looked over her shoulder at the second phoenix's suprised screeching, "Anrein!" She turned her own phoenix and charged towards the abomination and gargoyle combo.
She reached out a hand for Anrein to grab as she blasted the abomination.

Anrein cut the iron hook that was around him, managing to free himself away. He looked up to see Alexxa reaching out, taking her hand and escaping the scourge. His grip slipped and fell further down, barely managing to get the foot of the mount Alexxa was riding.
"Keep going!" Anrein shouted, afraid he was going to fall, but more afraid of the scourge.

"Please for the love of everything,
don't fall!
" Alexxa turned back and began sending the phoenix on its way, the aerial Scourge were in pursuit. "This is not going to look good..."

Anrein saw they had passed into Zangarmarsh, though that was the last thing on his mind. He struggled to hold on to the phoenix's foot, feeling himself slowly slipping further down.
"Hurry!" Anrein shouted.

"I'm going as fast as I can!" Alexxa screamed, "I'm landing us at the Refuge!" She took the phoenix in for a diving, praying Anrein could last a few more minutes.

Anrein saw the refuge ahead, though knew he wouldn't make it. He felt his grip finally give away, flying through the air yelling. Anrein hit some water below hard, skipping across it before crashing into the coast at high speed.

"No!" The elf shrieked, diving the phoenix down.
As soon as it landed, she got off and rushed to Anrein's side, "Oh no... oh no..."

Anrein was fading in and out of consiousness, wanting to simply black out. He was coughing up blood now, and it felt like some of his bones were shattered. Anrein barely had the energy to mutter a sound, his body screaming in pain.
"P.. please.... help..," Anrein managed to say, trying to gasp for breath.

Alexxa grabbed onto Anrein's shoulders, "I'm sorry..." She dragged him over to the phoenix, where she struggled to get him onto the majestic bird's back. She climbed on after, steadying the human as she got the phoenix to fly the rest of the way to the refuge.

Anrein was convinced he was as good as dead, the pain overwhelming.
"K.. kill me.. end this...," Anrein muttered, his hands clenched so tightly his nails were piercing his skin and causing him to bleed more.

"No.. no..." Alexxa bit down on her inner cheek, "Hold in there, please Anrein! Please!"
The high elf looked towards the refuge, and sent out an arcane flare for the druids to see, "Please..."

Anrein wanted to give up, knowing it was easy to just let himself slip into the darkness. But he heard Alexxa faintly, managing to muster the willpower to continue to try and stay awake.
"I can't.. take this," Anrein groaned, hearing every single heartbeat in his head.

Alexxa saw some of the druids rush out, "He's hurt, help please!" She managed to call out. She caught herself crying as some of the tauren and elves helped gather Anrein and bring him back to the refuge.
She wasn't far behind them.

Anrein saw images, everything rushing by in a blur. All he could remember is seeing elves and taurens rushing him into a room, seeing a faint green glow around him as he eventually passed out.

Alexxa sat off in the corner of the same room where the druids worked to restore Anrein. The elf couldn't stop crying, because for some reason, she blamed herself that this all had happened.
I could've done something, anything, but I didn't... I let him hang there until he finally dropped. You knew it would happen....
She felt another wave of tears coming, and even though she tried to choke them down, they rushed down her cheeks.

Anrein's eyes barely opened, his body in horrible pain, but sustaining. He breathed heavily, trying to see what was going on now. His vision was too blurry to see anything, not even able to ses as far as his hand.
"W.. where.. am.. I...," Anrein managed to say.

Anrein barely made out what the druid said, turning his head in the direction of the sound.
"What.. happened to her?" Anrein asked, breathing slightly faster now.
