No thanks, keep your zombies in your memory and not in reality.
I told Blizzard if they didn't stop the invasion within 24 hours, I'd cancel all 3 accounts I was paying for.
While I doubt it was my threat alone that terminated the zombie invasion so suddenly, I have little doubt that enough people told Blizzard the same thing and got Blizzard to cancel the event. Think back how it terminated. One day it was zombie heaven, the next morning the servers were reset and zombies were history.
And i am pretty sure they /cared. Seriously guys,it's not so hard to avoid zombies. You just have to know what to avoid. EG southshore = bad (seriously,i wanted to raze the place sinse i was 20 level).
Ashenvale = good (nothing to be zombified there = no players-zombies).
Also some more abbandoned places like silverpipe forest (although i heard that it had occasional raids, they were far rarer).
I managed to level my huntard from 1-45 levels within the zombie event and i had absolutely no problem.
Seriously, if you went for leveling to southshore during that time period,
getting ganked was your own damn fault

On YOUR server maybe, but on mine the Warsong Lumber Camp, Zoram Strand, and the Barrows became prime Zombie territory. Not to mention I had to run like hell when some r-tard turned the Astranaar flight master just as I was rolling in to get the FP.
Long story short: People are jerks, and will find even the most out of the way place to grief other people.

I'll reiterate what I posted before: this is a
total ^&*!@
for new players.
Great for you. You know where the popular questing areas are, and how to avoid them. Congratulations. How is someone who's just started playing supposed to know this? How is someone who's just made their new level 1 warlock in the Valley of Trials supposed to avoid... the Valley of Trials?
Maybe the event should just be limited to level 25 and above players, with an option and a stern warning to those lower who wish to participate.
If, as soon as you started a new human character when you FIRST started playing WoW and didn't know any better, ten Defias Bandits ran up to you and ganked you... you wouldn't want to play anymore, would you? "This game is unbalanced/unfair/stupid" you would say. Not everyone is at the end game and can enjoy it like you.

I liked the event. I was brutal, terrifying, exhilarating, frustrating, and exhausting all at the same time. I remember trying to cross Silvermoon city as groups of zombies roamed about.
From a MMORPG perspective it was the most dynamic event I had ever encountered. If you ever experience what a zombie apocalypse was like in wow then you can only imagine how it would be in RL.
Minor tweaks and it would have been better.
The zombie debuff wouldn't have a timer but shave a % of your life total until you died. Like 1-5% per 5 secs (a negative hp5). being struck by a zombie would give you the debuff and if you died with the debuff you became a zombie
Zombies couldn't talk at all. No chat channels, anything typed in /say would come out gibberish like the slurred speech effect when you are drunk. Just nonsensical zombie jibberish. No Communication between zombies..makes zombie raids harder to make.
You became a zombie only if you were killed by zombies. You stayed a zombie until you logged out and the server recognized you logged out. If you were killed as a zombie then you had a timer until you could on the spot res that was 5 min.
No explosion or gas cloud effects.
All zombies are set to a certain level which is half the total levels..so at 70 max it would have been 35. scares the newbs and makes killing the high levels harder so they seem heroic. also gives the newbs a chance to play a lvl 35..sorta
Also the hunger effect on zombies would shave a % of their life every 5 secs like being infected. This effect wouldn't kill you but reduce movement to a slow walk and reduce your hp to 1. you would still rebuild h.p. from hitting things.
All the city vendors, guards, Auctioneers, bankers fall back to the throne rooms and leave the city deserted. The battles to defend would have been epic.
I hope if they do bring it back it's tweaked to make it more palatable to all players and is done to celebrate the Icecrown Citadel patch.

That is actually an correct arguement. BUT,you forget something, when you kill a player as a zombie, you can talk to them. That means that they can ask you not to kill em again 9which when i was told so i obviously complied) or you could just propose them a safe heaven for questing.

Or maybe the loading screen could have a zombie themed look, explaining the event for everyone, and telling how long it will last. If they did that, everyone should be happy, those who don't like it could either stick it out, bg ( even though there will probably be zombies there too, ) or they could just log out, if I'm not mistaken
it only lasted about 3 days.
Two weeks. And it got increasingly disruptive every day. It was originally planned to go on longer, but due to players using it to grief and abuse lower level players, it was shortened. I understand it's a "one time event" etc. etc. that doesn't make it OK to use it as an excuse to make the game unplayable for people who just bought the game.
And yes, I agreed the concept was cool. If there had been a way to make it an even playing field so it didn't become an event of log-in, die, corpse run, die, repeat then it might not have been necessary to cut it short.
"Log out for the duration of the event" hardly seems fair. People who just got the game paid for a month of *playing* time same as you. Telling them to eat the cost 2-3 weeks of game time because some idiots get off on killing questgivers and griefing level ones is not an effective business model. Obviously Blizzard realizes this, because they put a stop to it.
It was NOT two weeks. The Zombie Invasion began on October 22 2008, and on October 25 2008 Phase 4 started, where the zombie plague hit it's height and necropoli appeared above major cities and in Azshara and Tanaris, by October 27 the plague was over and all that was left of the pre-Wrath event were the necropoli and the guy in Kara giving out the arcanite reaper.

And if my character is too low level to go to that other place, what happens? If I ask not to be attacked again, and the other player doesn't comply, what then? The rivalry between Alliance and Horde is not solely due to a lack of communication. And players are rude to other players even when they can communicate, even if they're on the same side.
last time i checked in every single level tier there ARE more places to level?
Even in your starting area, there are 4 more starting areas (and i doubt they zombified the tauren one)
if you bring me a tier level example were you have only a single place to level then we can speak again

Back then there was no way to get to the Tauren starting area without crossing other higher level areas. The zeppelin to Thunder Bluff is a recent addition.
You tell me how a new player who never played WoW or any other MMO is supposed to figure out all the places where there are quests for their level, get there without getting repeatedly killed and griefed, and actually enjoy the game.
All I keep seeing is excuses why it was somehow OK for max level players to make the game functionally UN-playable for new players, because they could have logged off for the duration, or they should have somehow *known* other areas where they theoretically could have gone, or it was just a temporary event (that the new players had no way to understand or context to recognize what was happening beyond "I logged in and got killed in one hit AGAIN! This game blows").
For the ___th time, the event was unique, the concept was cool, the creeps who used it as an excuse to grief everyone in the starting areas ruined it for everyone else, and caused the event to be cut short.
