No lies here, these 5 ninja looting incidents have happened ever since 2 days ago.
Edit: And before you say something, please read these incidents. Some of them, you will find them quite amusing. thx
--------------------------------------------
I am a resto druid
So far seen a druid tank rolling for all spec gears.
seen a death knight with Dual blade butcher rolling for a 178 dps 1h sword for *OS* and won against a rogue who desperately wanted the sword for his 163 dps upgrade.
So far, seen two hunters one having marrowstrike, the other with Betrayer of Humanity rolled a 1h axe/1h sword against a rogue, telling the rogue that the 1h gives him more dps. k in melee? wow. I patted the rogue. I should have helped him roll. I will do that
Next Time
when I see similar incident again. If only a druid can roll need on sword..
Yesterday, seen a druid tank with Twin's Pact rolled against a hunter on a
232.5 dps
Polearm that drops from h-HoR. Luckily, the hunter won the roll. 2 of us were like GRATS! Felt happy for him and the ninja.
Just an hour ago, seen a paladin tank rolled a dps gear against a pally and a dk and won saying he needed it for *OS*
ok now a tank gear dropped on the first boss off h-HoR and the dk and pally passed it to the pally tank. Now he rolls against the 2 for a dps gear. How lovely.
so far 5 ninja cases in 2 days. not including what will happen tonight.
Before I can't say there weren't this much, but I am positive that the number isn't decreasing. But there were definitely quite many ninjas I've seen thru raids.
--------------------------------------------
As you can see, the ninjas out of the above cases were mostly melee classes. I haven't seen casters ninjaing loots yet. Mostly tank/dps/heal spec ninjaing stuff.
So next time when you witness a ninja rolling offspec loots against someone that are in need of them, help out the person who need them for main spec by rolling need!
To hell with the ninjas.

Aside form the lag and hiccups on opening day, I have had nothing but positive experiences in the LFD tool.
The DPS numbers have been high; the tank has generated threat; and the healer kept us alive.
I approve.
I also don't sweat losing the gear from heroics. I don't need the gear or the mats anyway.
I would be frustrated losing a piece of gear that I wanted though. Them's the breaks.

Ill be honest.....I felt like a ninja today, i didnt do anything wrong of course, The group i was in today for all 3 heroics i was the only leather wearer and stuff, anyways we kill brohnjam and the 232 Throwing knives drop, im the only one who can use so i select greed as others pass, then we get to the last boss in FoS and he drops the dagger, once again good item for me as my dagger is still an iLevel 200, we get into PoS, and the Seven Finger knives drops(Fist weapon) Again only one who can use and i now have replaced my Crimson Steel( From OS10) We get to tyrannus and he drops the leather legs.... im jsut amazed at how much stuff for me drops, i felt so bad, on each boss i passed on the frozen orbs, and when everyone else greeded for stuff to vendor i passed....

Unfortunately, you can't trade items cross-realm =(
I did H PoS on my lock this morning and a healing dagger dropped (surgeon something or other) that was an upgrade for what i had at the time. No one else could use it (had a pally healer). At the end of the run, the caster dps staff dropped. Obviously a much better upgrade.
I then told the group: Okies, gonna DE the dagger so i can take that staff, everyone roll for shard. They did, i then tried to trade it to the winner and it kept forcing the item out of the trade window telling me it couldn't be traded cross-realm. ><
Thankfully, my group was really cool about it. I felt so bad =(

Same here, I don't really care about gear, but others in the group might. Especially for weapons.
At least, people should understand that they should only roll for main spec. Those ninjas never think about how they would they feel if someone were to ninja them back against something they really want for their main spec.
Out of all Those 5 incidents, no one have ever complained. They all just kept silent aside from a dk asking the pally tank why did you need the dps gear.
These 5 incidents were taken out of about 13 dungeons i've played so far in the past 2 days. I'm sure some people have experienced the same thing like these people, but most of them are icebergers. they don't say anything. I just think it isn't fair.

A hunter rolled a dagger against a rogue (my bro) last night. He then told the rogue he shouldn't have rolled it and traded him the dagger. My bro accepted it but then he couldn't find the dagger in his bag. And he saw trade completed too. So then we finished fos, pos, hor. and later at Dalaran when he relogged, he found the dagger in his bag. Didn't know what happened but he did have his dagger in his bag at last. So I am not sure if cross realm trading is allowed or not.. He did get the dagger tho.

You were definitely not a ninja, you were just in luck. lol
I don't think people would blame you, only thing they would think of is to be jealous of you for having so much luck.

Hmm, now i wonder. The abyss crystal did stay in my bag after the run (I deposited it into my guild's bank so I would feel better about the whole thing ^^) But i do remember the DK hitting trade and it said trade complete even tho the abyss had been kicked out of the window... I wonder if we both got one somehow then? I hope he did. Thanks for that!

Easy way to prevent being ninja'ed again: put the ninja on your ignore list. You'll never be placed in a group with that person again. Sure that won't fix the one time you get bamboozled, but it'll prevent it from happening again.

Would that work for cross realm?

2 things i have had happen in my runs:
1. i've heard that you can only trade "conjured" items and items obtained within the dungeon. however, i was able to trade a guru's elixer to someone from another realm. (an elixer that gives +20 to all stats for 1hr) wanted that little extra bit from everyone in the group so i was handing them out. he got it and was able to use it, so i don't know what's going on with the trading to other realms thing...
2. i saw this on the forum, but also saw it personally. as Elesham said earlier, each realm has their own rules when it comes to frozen orbs. my realm always greeds them. others always need them. so, someone rolling "need" on a frozen orb might not be ninja-ing it, he might be doing the norm for his server. if it is that important to you, make sure you mention something before people roll on the orbs.

Yeah, you pretty much have to assume that there's a possibility of this happening. Whether you're using the LFD tool or not. The only thing is, now people can ninja without having to worry about their rep being destroyed on their realm.
I would imagine that druids are going to be the biggest threat. They're the most versatile, meaning that even if they're full feral dps/tank, I am sure they can still roll on SP gear due to the fact that they can be a caster, too.
Although it seems that Blizzard put a lot of thought and effort into the new loot system, they really didn't do a very good job. Tank/Melee classes are going to clash against each other with OS rolls over MS rolls. It's inevitable. It happened before the LFD tool arrived. You would think that Blizzard would go over every possible outcome before making the LFD tool a playable option, but what can you do? They've never done anything about ninjas in the past, I don't expect them to now.
If there was a way for the loot system to calculate if the gear is an upgrade for you or not, (assuming that someone with really awesome gear is just needing on the lower ilvl gear to sell or something along those lines) that would prevent a lot of the greedy needing.
As for people rolling OS over MS, they could probably figure something out there too. Something like, Need, Greed, Disenchant, OS Roll. I am not sure how it'd work, but I am sure they could figure it out. They have an entire team of people to figure things like this out. They'd have to figure out a pretty smart interface in order for it to be able to calculate which spec you were currently in and if it was an Upgrade for you or not. Probably not doable, but who knows?
You just need to realize there's really no way to prevent ninjas. I wish Blizzard took action when people report ninjas, but they don't. I have sent screen shots full of the ninja taking place and they haven't done a single thing.
One of the guys I met over WoW used to run 10/25 Man FL every week when it was popular. He would ninja everything that dropped and before he knew it, he was famous on his Alliance realm, (completely different realm than I was on). I stopped associating with him because I thought that it was a horrible thing for him to do. I didn't like him that much anyway.
But, after the fourth or fifth time doing it, someone reported him for scamming and Blizzard actually took action and removed the item he had ninja'd from his bag and banned him for three days for scamming.
Maybe that's what it takes? I have yet to get something ninja'd from me since I found out about this, but the second it happens, I am going to report them for scamming and see if they do anything about it. Ninjas really do ruin the game.

So far, seen two HUNTERS one having marrowstrike, the other with BETRAYER OF HUMANITY
and this my friend,is why they call hunters huntards
id hate to be the melee dps who could of used that as a upgrade only to get outrolled by a huntard.but meh,i havent really ran into any epic failures with the new lfg system
If its an upgrade for the hunter then they didn't ninja anything. While it was a bigger upgrade for the melee, it was still an upgrade for the hunter. People just need to stop being sore because they lost a roll.
I myself have a hunter too, and what I've seen in some hunter forums, is that you should not roll against a rogue on 1h weapon if you have something superior. I know hunters want the enchants with the 2 1h weapon. Doesn't 2h give you better stats than 1h? I'm not sure.. Anyway, what I think is when a hunter roll on a 1h against a rogue, its like a rogue rolling on a crossbow/gun/bow against a hunter to which they have not much use with. If I were a rogue and a hunter rolled against me on a 1h weapon, I would definitely roll on any range weapon against them back and see how they feel bout it.

Sometimes duel wielding two weapons will have better stats than a 2 handed weapon (usually i see fresh 80 hunters duel wielding weapons with hit rating to help reach the hit cap). It depends on what drops you are lucky enough to get. And you will find pallies, dks, and warriors whining about hunters needing on pole arms, 2h swords. etc. as stat sticks as well, even if it is a genuine upgrade for the hunter.
I personally wouldn't need on a 1-handed weapon against a rogue unless they didn't need it and it could be a upgrade. And even then most likely only on a guild run.
