Aside form the lag and hiccups on opening day, I have had nothing but positive experiences in the LFD tool.
i've always hated pugs. . .but bring along 1 or 2 friends and use the new LFD and all the sudden i'm loving it.
i've ran 10 randoms and 2 specific dungeons with the new system, and have yet to personally run into anyone negative.
lol had one guy who spoke in nothing but spanish :P but everyone's been polite and are just there for the emblems and to have fun.
i do wish you could whisper those in your group from different servers though :(. wonder if there's a reason they decided to not let you whisper them (while they're still in your group).
--edit--
oh and. . .
for *OS* and won against a rogue who desperately wanted the sword for his 163 dps upgrade.. . .had this happen to me yesterday. i have decent tanking gear but have been looking all over the place for some dang pants with built in def to drop for me (without block :P i know i'm picky). a pair dropped for me in forge, i got all excited, asked the group if i could need roll on them as they were a nice upgrade for me (letting me take out my def gems for stam gems). . .all said sure.
and then i saw one of our dps recieve the pants :P
and he was my guildy lol >.< ah well.
have ran reg fos 6 times since and they haven't dropped again.
lol i wasn't really mad. no loot rules were set in place, and they were just a pretty small upgrade for me, where they're HUGE for the dps's off spec. . .so it's all good.
but i know how it goes. poor rogue :(

Ill be honest.....I felt like a ninja today, i didnt do anything wrong of course, The group i was in today for all 3 heroics i was the only leather wearer and stuff, anyways we kill brohnjam and the 232 Throwing knives drop, im the only one who can use so i select greed as others pass, then we get to the last boss in FoS and he drops the dagger, once again good item for me as my dagger is still an iLevel 200, we get into PoS, and the Seven Finger knives drops(Fist weapon) Again only one who can use and i now have replaced my Crimson Steel( From OS10) We get to tyrannus and he drops the leather legs.... im jsut amazed at how much stuff for me drops, i felt so bad, on each boss i passed on the frozen orbs, and when everyone else greeded for stuff to vendor i passed....
haha that's awesome :D grats on all the upgrades man. don't feel guily, enjoy our new toys :D.
reminds me of my first guild run in 10 man toc. both a t
anky sword
and a
shield
dropped off of anub. see'ing as the other tank was a druid. . .i walked out a very, VERY happy tank lol.
my guild still hassles me about it and my luck :P

On my pally tank just a couple mins ago, I ran normal Fos/Pos/HoR with a dps dk and a dps warrior.. not calling them ninja but they rolled on like everything. dps spec, tank spec, weapon.. etc I was kind to pass all the dps gears which all dropped at first, then tanking gears started dropping off from HoR, and all 3 of us needed on all tanking gears. I was surprised but didn't say anything. I don't care anymore. ...I am gonna play more on my resto druid, I find it hard to gear up my pally tank with ppl rolling tank/dps gears at the same time. =|

I haven't had anyone ninja gear yet - but I was accused of being a ninja earlier today.
I selected need on a frozen orb - as I've done in every instance I've ever done - because that's what we do on my server. However, evidently the four others I grouped with (all from the same realm, but not my own) selected greed instead. I apologized and offered to give it to the next highest roll, but they all left *!@#ed off. I'd like to think that if I was going to ninja something, it'd be a hell of a lot better than a frozen orb.
Serves as a reminder though that customs are different on different realms. I've also noticed plenty of people rolling greed on greens rather than the disenchant option (as greens can be vendored, and dust can't). To be honest, at this point in the expansion I really don't care about greens or orbs - but obviously some people take them very seriously.
Now I just watch and see what everyone else rolls before I do, it saves some pointless accusations.
Yeah I've never seen someone roll Need on an Orb until Tuesday either I was grouped with a player from another realm that rolled Need. Since they only go for about 10-13g on my server it's not something that I'm going get worked up about. Someone else in the group questioned it and he explained that it was/is custom on his server to roll Need on them.
You learn something new everyday I guess.
I was accused of ninja'ing for the same reason yesterday, needing on an orb. That's what we do on my server, so next time I'm going into a cross-server dungeon I'm going to tell everyone to need on the orb from the start, so we don't get more of those confusions. We solved it though, and I offered to let anyone else have the orb if they wanted it. As you say, it's a mere 10ish gold, so nobody really cared, it was just the principle.

The problem is that people don't use logic in the loot (known as ninjas).... and there is nothing so complicated in this.. if someone is tanking and there is a tank drop in the loot.. they have to know that this item have to go to the player that is tanking in that moment, if it's a upgrade, if not.... so they can need for OS, and this isn't what happens. I've lost the number of times that I've lost for example
this
and
this
for a dk, warrior or other pally that say: "Needing for OS!" but.. this something that we can't do anything really...
And if the game had some "anti-ninja" system that wouldn't work properly because I think that people could mark a non ninja as a ninja and that for sure isn't a solution too... there is no way to solve this I think.. maybe if a miracle happens and that ninjas start to use some logic and a good common sense but... this is just a dream I have to admit!
gl and cheers! and sorry for my bad english I know that is far away from being good lol
I truly feel they could possibly fix this by simply adding a prompt. Y'know when you select need or greed it prompts you that it is BoP (well no duh!) How about we change that prompt to "Are you needing for your Main specialization or your Off specialization?"
Hmm hm? Anyone else? I think it seems simple enough.. and main spec would win over off spec of course....
I know some jerks will still say its their main spec... but it might solve at least 50% of the problem, which is the "wth else do i roll if i can't roll greed for OS?"

Personally I think they should add just one more button on the rolls. An offspec button. It is less then a need, but greater then a greed/disenchant. That way, if you want something for offspec, you wont take it over someones need/main roll, however the item wont be disenchanted (seen it too many times)
this is a great idea

^ This, have you petitioned Blizz to add this yet? You should.
Ninjas will ninja. Fact of life. But if there were a button for Off-Set, inadvertent ninja should be thwarted. They fixed that problem with being able to trade with eligible people on BoP loot, but took it away with Cross-Realm instances.
Until I get an official statement about trading non-conjured items in an LFD group, I'm going to think you can but it's bugged.

Easy way to prevent being ninja'ed again: put the ninja on your ignore list. You'll never be placed in a group with that person again. Sure that won't fix the one time you get bamboozled, but it'll prevent it from happening again.
Would that work for cross realm?
Blizz says it'll work, in theory.
