I agree about the main spec vs off spec - the way you should be needing on off spec is only if no one else needs it for their main spec... main spec could be one of two things - the spec in the dungeon yuo are in, or the spec you have in the first tab of the Talent preview pane.
Sorry wall of text in coming - tl;dr, see last paragraph.
Yesterday I was in 4 dungeons (I lve the LFD system, btw) and Iw as only leather wearer (druid, feral main/balance off) and I was in my balance spec because it fits my play style better. the only reason I call it my off spec is because I leveled as feral, love to solo and pvp as feral, but have found I bring more to a group as boomkin. So, anyways, I consider my feral my main spec, but in the dungeons I was in, I would call my feral spec my off spec when I needed for a piece of gear for it. I got four items yesterday, 3 for balance, 1 for feral... I needed on all of those, and even asked before needing on my feral item if I could need for off spec.
The dungeon loot system could be set the same way - you can only need on items in your current spec unless noone else needs, then you need for off spec... if a rogue was in the dungeon I got the feral head gear from, I would NOT have needed on it had it been an upgrade for him. But that's me...
So, why shouldn't Blizz allow for something like this? When you go into dungeon on the LFD system it pulls your current spec and considers it your main... you can only need on upgrades for it, and if you have an item for your off spec you can use, you can only need if no one else needs for it. Seems simple.

I've had rogues roll against my hunter on bows/guns/crossbows. I have no problem rolling against them for daggers/1H-axes/1H-swords.

And, if the weapon has agi/stam on it, then it is classified as a hunter item also, so I have no problem rolling against a rogue, I can use it as much as he/can. I won both of my Blood Furys from a rogue that started bytching, but what can he do, we both use the same stats. If hunters can roll on staves that druids can use, why can't we roll on 1H that rogues use?
If the rogue is in your guild then you did your entire raid a dis-service as a rogue gets much more dps out of his melee weapons than a hunter would.
If you were in a pug then have at it.
Ummmm no, my Guild Master would say "bid on 1H" and then I would bid because it also has hunter stats. We both have equal right to melee weapons with agi/stan on it. The only way I wouldn't roll is for reserved loot, which I wouldn't join that group in the first place lol
Even though my main is a hunter, I am going to have to disagree with you rolling on those axes over the rogue as well. You are more likely to replace them with a 2hander. That rogue is not. It might have been an upgrade, but it was more of a lasting upgrade for him. You should probably start using some common sense and courtesy.
I have a hunter also, and have two 1H weapons, Blood Fury axes (i245) actually, and with the agility enchant, i get more agility/Ranged attack power than a 2H of the same level
If you really think those two axes are better for you then say the Hellion Glaive, you are dreaming. You can socket and enchant that polearm to have more agility than both of those axes with agility enchants combined. Though most would enchant the polearm with massacre over the 35 agility enchant.
TL;DR
Pikachui, please uninstall the game; you make our class look bad.

Pikachui, you are the stereotypical player who sets the mindset that "all loot is hunter loot".
Stop being so greedy, and use some common sense.

Here is to hoping he loses out on a good range weapon upgrade to a prot warrior who is needing for offspec.

No lies here, these 5 ninja looting incidents have happened ever since 2 days ago.
Edit: And before you say something, please read these incidents. Some of them, you will find them quite amusing. thx
--------------------------------------------
I am a resto druid
So far seen a druid tank rolling for all spec gears.
Okay, specify no offspec rolling.
seen a death knight with Dual blade butcher rolling for a 178 dps 1h sword for *OS* and won against a rogue who desperately wanted the sword for his 163 dps upgrade.
The Rouge needed more, but he might've been a Blood Tank/Frost DW DPS, and wnated as well.
So far, seen two hunters one having marrowstrike, the other with Betrayer of Humanity rolled a 1h axe/1h sword against a rogue, telling the rogue that the 1h gives him more dps. k in melee? wow. I patted the rogue. I should have helped him roll. I will do that
Next Time
when I see similar incident again. If only a druid can roll need on sword..
Actually, because of how enchants work, two one handers are better for hunters. Yes, Rouge needed more, but his point remains.
Yesterday, seen a druid tank with Twin's Pact rolled against a hunter on a
232.5 dps
Polearm that drops from h-HoR. Luckily, the hunter won the roll. 2 of us were like GRATS! Felt happy for him and the ninja.
It has agility, a primary stat for Druid tanking. Actually, if you don't have any Feral Stave alternative that is a very good tanking spear. As you mentioned before, who gives a crap about DPS on a melee weapon seen as one is a Feral and the other a Hunter?
Just an hour ago, seen a paladin tank rolled a dps gear against a pally and a dk and won saying he needed it for *OS*
So? He needed for offspec. If you have this many problems say no offspec rolling in the first place.
ok now a tank gear dropped on the first boss off h-HoR and the dk and pally passed it to the pally tank. Now he rolls against the 2 for a dps gear. How lovely.
Did he ask them to pass? No. What if they would have needed, but theirs was better? Just say no offspec rolling and if that's not enough there's lootmaster.

Ummmmm what if the 2H you say has not dropped for me yet, what am I supposed to equip, I do relize that would get more agility more than the 2 1H I have equipped, but it hasn't dropped, so........................ don't say criticize with the 3yr L2P speech when you don't even know the full story please. And if I let the rogue who probably already has 2 good 1H already roll and "automatically" get the item while I am still stuck with something like Jailer's Baton from VH or True Long Aim Rifle from ToC? I never said I would pass on a 2H but if a 1H weapon drops I am going to roll on it simple and plain.
I guess you missed the point I made about grabbing those axes as filler weapons. I understand things not dropping. But the thing with those axes is you are only equipping them until a better two hander comes alond while they most likely would lasted longer for the rogue you rolled against. Go ahead and be selfish. If that is how you play then fine. I am going to stand by my statement that you make hunters look bad.
You also said those axes give you better stats then the 2handers of the same item level so I responded to that false statement. Reread your stupid posts before you come down with your holier than thou attitude.
And I highly doubt you would be in ToTC if you had a weapon from VH. So the axes probably weren't so much of an upgrade for you that you could not wait especially when you had to wait for a second one to drop as well.
Actually, because of how enchants work, two one handers are better for hunters.
This is not true. The BiS weapons for hunters tend to be 2 handed weapons. Usually hunters duel wield until they can find something better.
