1.775 + 1.585 + 1.585 = 4.945 seconds, thus allowing your 4th AB to begin casting before the buff expires. This is, of course, assuming perfect latency and perfectly timing your spell que each cast
I'm not 80 yet, but isn't the T10 proc timed from the casting of the MBAM? Your math suggests that you believe it's timed from the casting of your first AB.

Ah ok, that changes things then, I was assuming it increases haste from your
first
missile, not your
last
. I'll remodel it when I'm at work on Tuesday, but I'm supposing that it'll be very similar to what you've already said.
On the flip side though, it may mean that AB5 has higher DPS than AB4; just a guesstimate.
Edit: Even if it takes effect on the client side with latency, wouldn't the server acknowledge the haste buff on the AB, allowing you to pre-cast your next chained AB that fraction (0.2s) earlier?

And there can be no other breakpoints, since the GCD minimum is capped at 1 sec, you can't fit 5 ABs and MBAM into the hasted period.
Based on the numbers that Fyuu provided, at those breakpoints, 1% haste has 4-5x more value than at any other haste level. AB4 MBAM provides higher DPS than any other possible AB#, but it's still a negligible amount. We're still only talking 3%, tops.
Efficiency ratings:
DPS = Damage per second
MPS = Mana per second
@ 17% gear haste (1st breakpoint):
AB# DPS MPS
1 4062 64.6
2 3975 161.4
3 4044 266.3
4 4077 365.7*
5 4033 465.6
(Random fact - AB5 MBAM is actually less mana intensive than AB4 MBAM, because the subsequent ABs aren't hasted.)
@ 56% gear haste (2nd breakpoint):
AB# DPS MPS
1 5416 86.1
2 5300 215.3
3 5392 355.1
4 5566 499.3*
5 5482 633.0
You're paying a *lot* for the extra 1-3% damage.
Edit: Edited for my stupidity. I knew something didn't seem right, but I didn't question it because I can be an idiot at times.

I'm not entirely sure it'd be worthwhile. 1100 haste is only a breakpoint with CD uptime. You'd be gimping your DPS slightly at all other times, presumably. But then, this is what this haste task is about - seeing if overall, it's worthwhile, across the whole fight, with cooldowns and procs.

Oh, I definitely agree. Mind you, there's a body of work put into Ret Paladin rotations, and even we think it's faceroll :P
I agree with what you're saying. My point about gimping one's DPS is because that 1100 haste would only be meaningful during periods where certain cooldowns would allow you hit the (actual) 1900 haste-equivalent milestone. For the rest of the period, you may be sacrificing other stats that would provide you a DPS increase, such as Crit.
How hard do you want to work to squeeze out that extra 200 or 300 DPS when you are already doing 10,000+ DPS? If you are honest with yourself, are you even capable? Because make no mistake about it, taking full advantage of the "1100 haste rating milestone" is significantly more difficult than the set-it-and-forget-it style of a mage with less than 1100.
I agree with what you're saying, but it doesn't make it any less a feat to be achieved :) If you're in it to min/max, then this could be the ultimate min/max'ing scenario (presuming that your over-the-fight DPS isn't sacrificed as a result of achieving CD milestones).
Having said that, I'm inclined to suggest that to hit such a milestone will come at too much of an expense to other stats.
Edit:
If you are honest with yourself, are you even capable?
We wouldn't be Pushing the Limit if we didn't try :)

This is amazing.
And, Gusideon, as someone who writes so well, I thought you might appreciate this:

and
pique
. If not, please ignore this :).

Not to mention I've always been numbers > letters.
If that's the case, you've done a good job compensating :). You're welcome.

I have a question for the powers that be however. Gus you were saying that taking advantage of the 1100 haste milestone required being on your toes. Do you mean that it requires paying attention to fitting the MBAM into the PtL proc?
Not that I'm a power-that-be's, but I'll try to answer:
To take advantage of the 1100 haste milestone, you need to:
a) Start your 1st AB cast as close as reasonably possible to your 5th missile.
b) Chain your ABs together as close as reasonably possible.
c) If you've done the first two, then the subsequent chained MBAM will fit in within the 5 seconds of Pushing the Limit.
If you're 0.1sec off on each of those events, for example, that's 0.5secs off the mark by the time you get back to MBAM, and you'll need an extra load of haste to compensate for it.
Keeping that up through Icy Veins, Berserking, Bloodlust (though you'll have a bit more leeway because of the increased haste) will require you to be on the ball. Then, you'll need to start managing your mana, because keeping up the AB4/MBAM cycle is costly.
(Oops... brackets fixed in my spreadsheet. AB4/MBAM isn't *that* much more costly. But still expensive.)

Ok, dusting off my failures, here's part 2.
Efficiency ratings on a ABx AM (no MB proc) cycle:
DPS = Damage per second
MPS = Mana per second
@ 17% gear haste (1st breakpoint with T10 proc):
AB# DPS MPS
1 2418 208.9
2 2662 235.9
3 2888 292.5
4 3106 363.8
5 3209 443.6
@ 56% gear haste (2nd breakpoint with T10 proc):
AB# DPS MPS
1 3224 278.5
2 3549 314.6
3 3851 390.0
4 4142 485.1
5 4279 591.5
Note this time - there is no great leap in DPS, no great leap in mana intensity, and there is quite a significant difference between AB3/4/5.
Suggested conclusion - if you don't get an MB proc, AB4 AM represents a balance between efficiency and damage. If haste generally gives you lower incremental DPS than SP or Crit, then your DPS will be lower by comparison for these portions of the fight (8% of AB4 rotations).
Now... can someone give me a quote on an unbuffed ABarr? If not from Fyuu, can I also get your unbuffed Arcane Blast (no stacks) and Arcane Missile (no stacks) as well? Just to plug into the calculator I'm building.
