Just to bring a nice discussion back to light, I was board hopping when I ran across the Priest Forum's efforts to mindlessly stack stats and see what they came up with.
Here's their
Extreme Haste
gearset, complete with
2402
haste rating
.
Surprisingly enough, it still has 2468 spellpower and 28.6k mana unbuffed, but only 12% crit. As a Mage, those numbers would be a lot higher, since our bonus spellpower comes from the stacked Intellect, not Spirit.
When Black Magic procs, with the T10 procs, in this build, you could get Arcane Blasts down to 1.234secs, without Bloodlust, Icy Veins, Beserking or any other haste-enhancing ability.
Admittedly... it may be substandard DPS, but that's awesome :D

lol <3 this point
omg, I just realised that I didn't count Mage talents...
1.21secs with only T10 procs. That means pretty much every haste ability will put you at the GCD cap. In heroics, with an party of no-hopers.
With Wrath of Air and Imp. Moonkin / Ret Pally, we're looking at 1.12 sec ABs with T10 procs, or 1.26sec ABs without.
We're staring down the barrel of a gear build that will allow you to squeeze your entire AB4MBAM rotation into 5.5 seconds flat. Fun times ^_^
Can't wait for Haste to one day affect CDs...

Bump.
Quick question guys. I was just thinking about how the 700 haste rating milestone came to be, and came back here to see if I could find the math behind it. But there isn't - Gusideon mentioned it earlier, recalculated it once we confirmed what the multiplicative haste bonuses were and how they worked, and we left it at that and took his word for it.
Does anyone have the math behind it in a relatively quick easy-to-post manner? Or will I need to recalc it from scratch?
