Do you ever get sick of healing 5 mans? Do you ever fall asleep doing them? Do you ever wish you could spice up your 5 man experiences? Then become a Restokin! In this small guide, I will teach you how to succeed as a PvE Restokin.
- Spec
- Glyphs
- Gear
- Restokin'ing
In this spec you are taking most of the necesarry dps talents in balance, while still getting a good amount of resto talents in.
-Only take this if your gear is strong enough for it.
-Be careful of using this spec with
a). Bad tanks
b). Stupid DPS
c). All of the above
In this spec you focus more on resto talents, while still getting Moonkin form.
-Take this spec if your gear is good, but not strong enough to focus more on dps'ing.
-Go ahead and use this spec with
a). Bad tanks
b). Stupid DPS
c). All of the Above
However, if the group is so terrible that your not sure if Restokin is a smart move, just use your resto spec.
MoonfireStarfireSwiftmend Use good hybrid pieces such as:
This,
this,
this, or even
this.
1. Start in Caster form.
2. Cast Rejuvination on the tank. You can also cast Regrowth here if extra hots are necesarry.
3. Get into Moonkin form.
4a. For single targets, cast Moonfire, then Insect Swarm.
If you chose the first spec, follow standard Eclipse rotation, and keep your dots up.
If you chose the second spec, spam Starfire while keeping your dots up.
4b. For groups of more then 3 targets, simply cast Hurricane.
Always put healing your group above dps'ing. Remember, you are a healer first, dps second. Good luck smashing both the healing meters and the dps meters in 5 mans now!
p.s. Never try this in ICC 5 Mans, and dont try it in ToC unless you are comfortable with it.
Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated.

IMO, if you are going to be running a 5 man as a healer, but still want to dps, the best thing to do is focus on hots and dots. This allows you to throw heals on the tank that will tick while you cast dots or hurricane.
If your tank needs no heals, you shouldn't be running a healing spec at all, just full dps. The reality is that even in heroics you'll be needing to heal, though, so it's best to have at least Tree of Life.

If you go with moonkin form, you just don't have the flexibility to switch between heals and dps. Better to stay in caster form to switch dmg vs healing spells.
You can go several ways with glyphs, but imo I'd stick with MF and IS glyphs with whatever you want for the 3rd one.
