*shifty eyes* No comment.
But saying "No comment." Is making a comment!

I feel that Patty/Adamsm in this topic warrant a comment (related):
I don't have any problem with this sort of interaction - yes, it's not related to the OP, but I don't think harmless banter is, well, anything but harmless. Actually derailing the thread is one thing - posting silliness in it is another.
Well as this topic seemed to be created to target HSR, what does our comments actually bother the overall meaning of it?

I'm still waiting for an answer.
How is...
Well, now that you've changed your definition of derailment, you're wrong in saying 90% of Wowhead's threads are derailed, and you're also wrong in saying that it's usually I (and I don't think victoryoordeath is guilty of a single such infraction).
...a derailment from...
Seriously, 90% of the threads posted in wowhead get derailed within the first page - usually by victoryordeath or Hyperspacerebel (or sometimes both). I'm not saying they're the only offenders - heck, i've participated in it at some point (although the eternal question of "who started it" is always arguable).
?
I want you point to the exact place\ where I have derailed this thread.
And I'm also still waiting for you to back up your claims that 90% of Wowhead's threads are derailed with me usually the one doing it.
I also want you to explain your flip-flopping position on what a 'derailment' actually is, once and for all.
I also want you to know that creating a thread to accuse someone of something and then proceeding to ignore them is not only extremely rude, it also makes it seem like you don't actually care about solving anything, but would rather just cause more trouble.

I want you to know, dragon2041, I hold nothing against you, no hard feeling, no grudges, no hate. If you honestly dislike me as much as you're letting on I would advise you to just stay away from me, for your own good. Something's obviously ripping you apart inside when it comes me, and I don't want to be an aggravating factor in whatever it is.
Again, I'm not a big fan of grudges. I'm sorry if I ever offended you in any way, and I've already forgiven anything you might have said to me. But if it really is an issue for you, the only thing I can offer is that advise.
Life is way too short to be mad at people. I spent all of high-school hating people and being hated back, and I have no way of going back and fixing that. Hate/anger hurt you more than the person you're mad at, and I say that because I experienced it first hand. Life can be a !@#$%...anger won't change that. Learn to be at peace with yourself, your fellow man, and the world, and everything else will follow.

Chuck Norris is a normal person, albeit very skilled in martial arts.
By derailing this thread, I am staying on topic. Now go #$%^ your bricks.
Now on topic, as derailing from the topic as it is, I believe that your definitions of Derailing are way too narrow. First of all, you're showing yourself as the undeniable dictator of interesting. Indeed, I find most of these 'derailments' to be more interesting in fact. Religion debates in "This should be interesting" is hardly a derailment, as it's a thread about a Religious blog. Just because the OP says "Thoughts" doesn't mean we post our thoughts on move on, that's not a discussion which is what forums are for. However, the fighting discussion in 60 minutes of invisibility is what I consider a derailment.

On the contrary, my friend, this thread does not target HSR. Rather it targets thread derailment as a total, naming a few people whom I have encountered that perform said action.Chuck Norris is a normal person, albeit very skilled in martial arts.

I believe you're conducting an argument against a strawman :(.
I don't think that changes of pace are derailments - even if i don't like how the topic is turning, i don't consider it a derailment. My definition of a derailment is completely abandoning the original topic, for the sake of a) a stupid argument b) another topic that could just as easily be started in a new topic, while simultaneously preserving the original.
And I believe that if you think 90% (or even 50%) of threads are derailments then completely abandoning the original topic is stupid. A complete abandon would be "How many times does Y go into 100?" answer would be "Faster, build a quote pyramid!" What usually happens is someone seems a little bit aggressive about their views and a entertaining argument takes place, not a derailment.

OP: What do you guys think about the new Avatar movie's plot? I think it's pretty cliche.
First Poster: Special effects suck. They were definitely better in the old days, now it seems like they're just added for show.
Both topics have merit, and are capable of being discussed intelligently - but by switching the topic solely to the second posted topic, the first one is abandoned, and not able to be discussed intelligently. The second topic could just have easily been created with the new topic button, which is
^
| that way.

I disagree again. He says that Special Effects, the essential core of the movie, are added merely for show and very little for plot or story lines sakes, and thus the movies plot sucks.
Edit: It seems like we've successfully created the first intelligent quote pyramid, though it's design flaw is that it's a bit long.

Technically, you can only say yes or no so many times before it gets old; but if the topic evolves into a discussion about all the parts that make up the movie(in the case of Avatar sub-par acting and plot with the high-graphics), you keep it going and see more ideas and thoughts about the movie and how people view it.

Well, no, I'm afraid I disagree (and i think i'm entitled to, as I wrote the "first post" ;p). What i meant by my example is the second user is saying "Special effects were better in the old days - now they're too much. Old special effects have a much better effect than those in any modern movie." While it is loosely related to avatar, it's not nearly the same topic as "the plot is cliche"
It takes some thought, but it can easily be made to fit into that thread and you can argue accordingly.

Heh, depends on the movie; Final Fantasy Spirits Within had amazing graphics(superior to Avatar in all honesty), and that is an 'older' movie. It all depends on the context and how it works with the plot; something like Cool World, done with CGI instead of 2D would have failed horribly no matter what, where District 9 is a prefect blend of good story and graphics(hokey looking aliens but still).

While I hate to say it, this is a perfect example >_>Heh, I try... too bad I'm too thick to figure out if your praising the post or it confirms your stance on derailment lol.
