Yes, I have read the stickies. Unfortunately, the stickies offer around 6 different glyphs and says they're all good, which does not particularly help me pick!
I didn't say they're all good. >.> <.<
Swap earthliving with either HW or LHW (Or water mastery at that level). Then get chain heal as the third.
And the beauty of the LHW glyph is that it has higher regen due to the 25% crit chance given by Tidal Waves.

The LHW glyph doesn't give a higher crit chance.
The usual glyphs are:
- Earth Shield
- Chain Heal
- Lesser Healing Wave
ES is obvious, more free heals on the tank. Very awesome, must have, always great. CH is strongest in fights in which you are raid healing but even when tank healing you will use CH every 6th cast and the additional jump to the melee group is helping the raid. Since there aren't really any great tank healing glyphs I consider this one mandatory in raids, too. You might want to swap it out for the Mana Shield one if you are fresh 80, having mana troubles and only healing 5mans.
LHW is awesome for 5mans as well and also helps in raids. You will occasionally throw a LHW on the tank, even when raid healing (if only to keep Ancestral Healing procced). When tank healing you will obviously also use LHW quite a bit (though HW will probably be the dominating healing spell for hard mode progression content).
Those 3 glyphs make you a flexible healer and able to handle absolutely everything. I know that some (CH when tank healing, LHW when raid healing) are actually pretty weak but there are just no good alternatives, Shamans lack really awesome healing glyphs (except for ES).
By the way, I know you didn't ask for it but just to be on the safe side ;) :
For tank heals, just spam Rip - LHW - LHW - CH - LHW - LHW on him and repeat that cycle. If damage gets huge switch out a few LHW casts for HW casts.
For raid heals when the whole raid is very spread out and CH will not jump much do exactly the same, just spread your casts over the whole raid instead of focusing them on the tank. And don't bother with switching HWs in for LHWs, just stick to LHW for more Ancestral Awakening procs.
For raid heals when the whole raid is bunched up and CH has a chance to jump 2-3 times at least just go and spam CH only, maybe with the occasional Riptide if you feel like it.
In all cases you have to keep ES active on the tank of course.

The LHW glyph doesn't give a higher crit chance.
He didn't say it does. He meant by glyphing for LHW, you'll be using that as a primary heal thus providing more mana regen due to
Tidal Waves
+
Imp Water Shield
synergy. If you do NOT glyph for LHW, then your primary heal is Healing Wave which means less crits, which means less mana regen.

I see.
Thankyou for explaining it guys, sorry for the dumb question!
It's not a dumb question. I look at other guides for classes that I'm interested in playing and they also list more than 3 glyphs without so much as an explanation to why someone would choose one over the other. For Elemental Combat and Enhancement specs, the glyphs are pretty clear cut. But for Restoration, there are many viable glyphs to choose from depending on playstyle and role (ie 5man healing, raid healing, tank healing). Some people prefer to use Healing Wave as a primary heal, others prefer Lesser Healing Wave. And again, others love Chain Heal spamming. The best you can do is try things out. Determine which healing style you prefer, what healing spell do you find yourself using more, how mana efficient that spell is, etc. Then you can glyph accordingly.
Edit: But I will tell you this one thing for sure....Glyph of Earthliving Weapon is complete utter crap.
I remember hearing that the tooltip is misleading because the percentage is multiplicative instead of additive, so after all the math it actually only increases the chance to proc by ~1%.

For a normal raid, the best are CH, ES, and Riptide. For a 5man runner, swap out Riptide for LHW.

Currently, I am leveling a Shammy as well, only lvl 40. Since I do not have ES yet, is Water Mastery a suitable glyph for leveling? It seems like it to me so far, but I was wondering if Healing Spring Totem might be a better glyph (although, most Pallies I get grouped with don't listen when you ask for wisdom (I guess it's mostly a lvl thing), so I usuall end up dropping Mana spring totems instead of healing spring totems).

Riptide glyph is pretty useful if your tanks are getting cleaved - roll riptide on the both of them and use chain heal to proc tidal waves. Also I quite like it on Festergut, you can roll it on the ranged who are getting puked on.
But i'd rather run with ES LHW CH for my resto build until if I ever phase out LHW from my rotation in favour of healing wave on the tanks, which I doubt I will.

For levelling as resto, I would just pick up ES, LHW, and Water Mastery. There's a noticeable lack of MP5 gear between Azeroth and Outland, so the added MP5 will probably help you more than CH or HW.
Except that you need to be level 80 to have 3 major glyphs

The more you get into T10, the more you may as well keep Riptide in and decide between LHW and CH. Personally I'm keeping it as RT / ES / CH from now until Cat it seems. :P
