Finally hit 80.
Had some upgrades from TOC (just legs and shoulders) and had collected a couple more (rings bracers and 1 trinket (greatness-agility). Still have quite a few blues which will be replaced as gear drops for him.
Read the stickies but was unsure on a few things.
The gear that has gem sockets require Armor penetration gems from what I read?
Does agility build up with the gear pieces then?
Armor enchants then should be agility I take it?
My hit is currently at 164. Doing approx 1500-1700 in heroics and fully understand that this will increase with better gear but somehow feel I am not doing my rotation correctly. And I am pretty sure my glyphs could be wrong.
My rotation:
Rake, Mangle (also Shred if it is up) till 5 combos then Savage roar then repeat then finish with Rip.
Good? Bad? Help?
Thanks and here is my Armory:

Personally I would get to the hit cap first and then stack agility until you get into the higher level gear.

Stay away from armor penetration until you have 500ish passive armor penetration on gear before gems and enchants, AND you have a trinket with an arp proc.
Stack agility until you know better, its just safer.
Gemming for hit is a matter of preference. Missing white swings will be a minor loss in DPS, but a lot of people also don't like missing special moves, because it can get in the way of a smooth rotation. I personally don't mind it. You'll get enough passive hit on gear eventually to not have to worry about it.
Hit aside, gem for pure agility (or arp later) except for your meta requirements, for which you should use the prismatic.
On trash, your rotation will be something like Mangle > Savage Roar > Swipe ad infinitum. Mangle is used merely as a means of getting a combo point for Savage Roar. Savage Roar should be kept up.
On bosses, forget rotations. Follow the priority list in the sticky (FAQ).

Go on curse, or wowinterface, or EJ, and look for an addon called FeralByNight. unsure if its 1 word or 3. it'll run you through your rotation. now, dont depend on it, just use it until you get your mind around the dps methodology (i dont like using the word rotation).
till then (like Windstrum said), start off with Faerie fire > mangle > Savage roar > rake. rake is a bleed, and as far as i know (correct me if i'm wrong) the initial hit is boosted by mangle. also, until you get your mindset in the right place, try for 2-3 point savage roars. it'll help in the beginning. later on, you'll learn to maximize them.
since you're new, i'd suggest sticking with gemming agi. if you dont know much about ferals, you might end up gimping your dps by gemming armor pen.

LOL I umm was throwing a little of this gem and a little of this gem. So got it! Agility until better gear drops.
And I now understand that 1 combo point is better into savage roar then swipe on the trash.
As I stated I know my talents need some readjustment - tried to figure it out myself but I fail :) Managed to get Marrowstrike last night and a new helm which I need to re-gem. My boots need replacement (level 72 blues still)
Managed 2k in FOS and POS heroics but I know it can be better.

Yea, they all are right but first work some on your build, you have 2 feral specs but none of them is pure dps or pure tank. Look at sticky, there are some right builds, i see you gather nice helm and weapon last days. Equip them, gem and enchant properly (like sticky say), get your FeralByNight and your dps fly up. But remember, druid speeds slow so your potential shows up on bosses first, on trash swipe a lot, and never ever stay ther than on back of mobs you beat.
There are some hit/exp enchant. Gem for agi only till better gear.
Thanks for the advice - level 80 druid is just a blast to play.
So should I worry about hit at the moment or will it come with gear?

Hit *should* come with gear, though a lot of people seem to be complaining that there isn't a lot of leather with hit/expertise on it in ICC.
The short version is that hit and expertise aren't as good (point for point) as agility is, and are mainly there to help smooth things over. White damage is a very small part of our damage compared to other classes, and we don't lose too much from the occasional missed/dodged attack.
On top of what the others have said, you really should be using the Relentless Earthsiege Diamond for your meta and putting a Nightmare Tear in a desirable socket (one with an +agility bonus) to activate it. The rest of your gems should just be +agility.
Ummm...... This is false. You have to be at least close to the cap, otherwise your dps will take a huge hit. Missing a 10-15k crit attack is definitely a good chunk of dps.

Uh, hit cap is the "yellow" hit cap. Not the white hit cap. Correct me if I'm wrong. Personally, I don't like being over .25% under either cap.
I've raided with 6% hit, and I really did notice the misses. On top of that, when you miss a bleed refresh, you are increasing the down time of your bleeds. This means less time for more FB's between finishers, which means there's something wrong and you aren't getting the most dps out of your gear.
Although, I've never had the issue of having to gem for hit anyways.....

White hit cap is the same as yellow hit cap for a feral druid, because we do not dual wield.
I didn't say whether it was the white hit cap or not, I said that the "hit cap" is the "yellow hit cap", not necessarily the "white hit cap".
All the rest of your issues are up to the person. A good raider will be as close to the hit and expertise caps as he can get. That doesn't necessarily mean he will gem for it, but it's a possibility.

Missing a "crit atack" isn't possible.

Demoneater, Very good guide and a huge thank you for some clarity and thank you to the others who offered advice.
I had the mats and had an epic chestpiece made so with the talent tree change and the correct gems and meta my DPS on heroic HOL jumped from 1500-1600 to 2700! Very cool.
Although very simple in design the feral kitty is more a challenge learning what to keep up.
I really need some new shoes and hands and I will be ready to roll.
In terms of trinkets anything I can get vendor or badge?
Again thank you for the huge help and I am really having fun with this alt :)
